Scroll Bars in Wrike
Dear Wrike,
Would it be possible to please increase the widths of the scroll bars in the software?
This is a minor change request, however a very helpful one when quickly navigating through our table views when entering and reviewing the data captured against our project tasks.
Totally understand the requirement to reduce the size for tablet operators and small screened laptop users, however for normal day in day out desktop users like myself and this business - they're very small!!
Thanks in advance
Kind Regards
James Hayes
Hi James, thanks for sharing your feedback here! You mentioned entering data in the Table View, and I was wondering whether there are any other areas where you feel it would be particularly useful to have a wider scrollbar. I understand that it's currently the same across the Workspace, but just curious whether you feel this need mostly when working from the Table View?
Hi Anastasia,
I would agree with whole of workspace. It is a good intention to save space, however this dramatically decreases usability in desktop view across the site. Table view simply emphasizes this issue.
Many thanks
James, thank you for following up, I appreciate the additional info!
Yes, please make scroll-bars more distinct (fatter with arrows and better contrast because browser color scheme may make even fat scroll bar blend into background). I have been tripped up twice because I could not see that there were scroll bars. Using Chrome, the scroll-bars just look like borders and no arrows.
1) Trying to change workflow in Board view. The workflow option is way to the right and off my screen so I could not see it. I read and re-read the online help and then realized I had faint horizontal scroll-bar on the bottom I had to use to get to that option.
2) Trying to change workflow from the workflow drop down which showed 7 items. My workflow was the 8th one and I thought there was a bug with Wrike as it was not displayed for me to select. I looked up the max workflow limit and it was 60. Tried Firefox. Logged out and in. Opened a ticket. When Support told me she had never seen this issue. I played around more and discovered I had scroll option on the drop-down menu by clicking on the drop-down menu with my mouse and using my mouse scroll button to get to the bottom of the drop-down. There was no visible scroll bar at all on my drop-down menu. Now Support shared her screenshot using Firefox and she had a small scroll-bar. However, I could not see this even when I used Firefox (nor Chrome).
Hi Angela, thank you for providing those examples! Certain elements on websites can definitely be seen differently based on the type of display and display settings someone has, but I do understand that cases when a scrollbar is completely hidden can be frustrating. Our Product and UX teams do see this feedback, so it's great to have these additional details here!
I completely agree with this request and would love to see both wider horizontal and vertical scroll bars. I'm on the Wrike desktop app daily and struggle with clicking on them with a mouse. They can be hard to find and I find myself using the keyboard arrow keys to move around when I can't find them. I also like the idea of a more contrasting color for the bars so they are easier to locate.
I too find the scroll bars too narrow. Using Wrike with Chrome, I often find myself clicking outside the task box trying to grab the scrollbar and inadvertently closing the task box, as a user of 6 months now I find it very frustrating
Many of the scroll bars are so narrow that I can't use them at all. Throughout the site, the scroll bars are very narrow and hard to use, but some are even thinner in places and don't move at all. I have my screen set at a 100% zoom, for reference.
We have just got onto to wrike platform and find the scroll bars too narrow to use. if increasing it to a larger width is a problem to roll out as a default then could you consider at least having a theme that has wider scroll bars? I keep clicking on the folder when attempting to click on the scroll bar. Also if you are not careful you end up dragging a folder into another.
Scroll bars are extremely un-userfriendly.
I have good eyesight and find the scroll bars as my biggest pain point with Wrike, finding it strains and fatigues my eyes very quickly, and also have to hunch down my screen for a better viewing angle of the bar.
My colleagues with poorer eyesight find it almost infuriating to use, and use the hold-click and drag functionality to slowly scroll through the current Wrike Board.
Providing the user with no option to change this (or even increase contrast) is disappointing.
Our firm is experiencing the same frustration already described by others. The scroll bars are too narrow. This seems like something that should be relatively easy to correct. Please let us know when this will be addressed.
Thank you
I've recently received this same feedback from our team re: too-thin scrollbars within the Wrike platform. A number of our Studio users have pens and struggle with accidentally moving tasks or selecting things when the intention was to hit the scrollbar.
Is this improvement in development?
Hey everyone, thank you for this feedback! It's been passed on to the Product team.
I echo the frustration of scroll bar sliders. I've even slowed my mouse movement down so I have to move the mouse a large distance across the desk to move the pointer and can hardly hit the narrow strip provided. It did help somewhat though.
This needs to be done, it's so frustrating. Every time I open up an archived project (1000's), I have to scroll back up to the top to collapse folder and the bar is so thin it's challenging to click on with a mouse. At the very least, make the slider button bigger. I'll check/request a collapse-all button separately.
Thank you for reaching out, Spencer Wass!

3 and a half years since the original request, this is a major usability issue. Makes me think the developers don't use Wrike themselves, otherwise it would get fixed right away.
Hello All,
I agree with Laurie and others. Wrote this post to give some feedback - every now and then get an update to another user's frustration.
Is there a reason it has not been amended? Or at least could you provide a technical explanation as to why it is not possible?
I can appreciate this is not a huge and exciting update to the platform but surely sometimes the simple changes can make a big difference to daily usability!!
All the best.
Hi folks, a quick update to say that we're checking in on this as we speak. As soon as I have an update to share I'll be back in touch here 👍

Elaine Any update on this issue? I noticed the first post about this was four years ago! The scroll bars would probably be my biggest complaint about Wrike. This really needs to be fixed. thanks

Hi Elaine,
I am the owner and account admin for Wrike in our business Is it possible to switch on the 'New Wrike Experience' through labs for my own log in only so I can test first before possibly applying to all our users?
Kind regards
Hi James Hayes, thanks for reaching out! 🤗
It says on the Wrike Labs page that the New Wrike Experience can be enabled for your individual account:
But please let me double-check! I or one of my colleagues will get back to you on this soon 👍

Hi Lisa,
Thank you. This morning I logged on and enabled this for my account (only mine). Thank you for coming back and offering to check.
I have also shared my feedback to Olga B in the Support Team. As I access the reports and dashboards mostly (95%), to review the work of our team - for me, the New Experience did not lend any extra help. Switching between each dashboard or report were not any easier or quicker for me and this is ultimately why I decided to revert to normal, until the switchover is a must.
The layout appears it will suit most users though as inbox and workload are easy to view and access their activity. I like the home screen too - I see the benefit for others.
I will however look forward to wider scroll bars also! 🙂
Thank you for getting back to me and sharing your feedback too, James Hayes! I'm passing your feedback on to the Product team

It's now 2021, four years after this conversation was started, and the scroll bars in the desktop app are still very close to being useless. They're not only thin and difficult to see, but the programmers didn't make the active area align with the the scroll bar itself, and the only place they can be grabbed is a 1-pixel area along the left side of it. This forces the user to make several failed attempts to grab the scroll bar, accidentally resizing the window or selecting text each time, before they are successful. Each and every time they have to scroll.
Hi Greg DiGenti, welcome to the Community! 👋
Could you please tell me if you're using the New Wrike Experience? The scroll bars have been made wider compared to the Classic Experience:

Lisa Even on the New Experience, some are improved but the scroll bars are still small on the Workflow and Custom Fields menus.
My business Unit has stopped using Wrike (we rolled out DevOps) and the fact that this isn't resolved is still aggravating to me.
Thank you for sharing this feedback Beth Anderson, Laurie Graham, I'm now passing it on to the Product team.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else!
