[Status: Backburner ⏳] Task Reminder via Wrike E-Mail Notification

It would be awesome to be able to right-click on a task (or sub-task) - or use a menu option - to tell Wrike to send a reminder at a certain date/time to selected team members.

Let's say I have a task that is assigned to me, but I am waiting on a response from a vendor.  I want a reminder (via Wrike e-mail notification with a link to the task) to trigger me to follow up with that vendor to see where things stand. I don't want to have to add any additional tasks in the project as a reminder task or manually add a reminder to my calendar in Outlook - that's just clunky.

I have used the iCal sync, but when I try to set a reminder on the item in the calendar in Outlook, I get an error that the folder does not support reminders and that the calendar is read-only, so I can't set a reminder anyway.

Other tools, under consideration by my team, have this feature and it's been useful in our testing while we are in the PM tool selection process.

For what it's worth, I did successfully setup a custom report that will e-mail out daily specific tasks (that have a specific workflow status), but it would be nice to "tell" a task to remind me (via e-mail notification) on a certain day at a certain time (also with the option to notify others that I specify).

Hi Megan, thank you for posting! Reminders are a popular request, and we've started working on implementing some functionality to support them already:

  • Inbox Reminders allow you to set reminders from tasks which you were notified about (and be notified about them again later).
  • Google Calendar Integration lets you schedule a specific time in your calendar right from Wrike's date picker.

Both of these features are currently in beta, and can be enabled from Wrike Labs. Thank you for sharing your feedback while we continue to work on enhancing the scheduling functionality!

The feature I turned on from within labs for the inbox notifications is EXACTLY what I am looking for to be able to do on a specific task or sub-task.  To be able to pick a specific date and time (as well as add in additional team members) would be golden!!!!  The reminder logic is already there, I suppose, so I would hope that the developers would consider adding this feature.  Any push you can give would be appreciated.  We have a call with Mike Couch next week along with some of the other Wrike team members so I'll be bringing this up then, too.

We do not use Google apps at my organization, so unfortunately, the Google Calendar solution is not applicable to us.

Megan, thank you for sharing the additional details! I don't have any timeframe (even approximate) to share at the moment for other Reminder features, but there have been many discussions around this functionality in general, and launching both Inbox Reminders and the Google Calendar Integration (in Labs) was just the first step in this process :)

How do I enable the task reminders by email? It doesn't see to be working?

@Kaitlyn, thank you for the question! The discussion here is about a feature request which hasn't been implemented yet, but it looks like you may be referring to Email Notifications. Let me know if you don't receive these emails, or if you were referring to something else. Happy to answer any other questions about this!

I'd definitely like to add my vote to task and subtask reminders. That is HUGE for us and would be extremely helpful. We also do not use Google apps so we cannot wait for this new feature.

Please, please, please implement task-based reminders. I also use Teamwork, and this is one of the most powerful features it has compared to Wrike.

We have already had a call with our customer success manager about this. We are not a tech startup, which implies that workflows and processes here are entirely differently.

Our Integrated project manager assigns an entire project to a team with a variety of tasks that need to be done over a certain period. The assignees are notified upon assignment BUT getting reminded about an upcoming task or an upcoming deadline is crucial for the adoption of Wrike in our agency.

We also do not use google calendar. If Wrike has to be adopted in larger organisations like ours, one must consider the need to integrate with old school Outlook even though it might not be considered a contemporary solution.

Once again, the need of this feature for us is crucial because it might hinder adoption within our agency. Hence, it would be great if you folks can accelerate the implementation of this feature asap.

I enabled Inbox Reminders in Wrike Labs, but I don't see anything new on my tasks. Where does it appear?

@Joy The Inbox Reminders beta feature allows you to set an amount of time after which the Inbox notification once again shows up as being new and unread. Here's how it looks:

Currently, this type of reminder is available only in the Inbox, and not in the task itself. We’d be more than happy to hear your feedback about this new functionality while we continue working on it. :)

We work with a number of outside clients where we assign them tasks.  Currently we assign a due date for them and reminders are sent to them via email on a daily basis until the task is completed.  It would be great if we could designate how often reminder emails are sent to them.  In a perfect world we would be able to set it up such that they would receive a reminder email at 8:00am every Monday morning.

Hi Bill, thanks for commenting here! That's an interesting idea - do you think it would look something like the existing daily emails, but with an option to choose days and not only time?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to post an update on Bill's behalf, which he sent over as a reply, I think that this is really insightful:

"Hello there.

Yes I would love to have the flexibility to have the system send a reminder to Joe Smith at ABC Company, Inc. each Monday starting 4/3/17 at 8:00am CST.

So rather than Joe Smith getting a daily email from me reminding him to do something he would get a weekly email."

I'd also like to see reminders in tasks. Currently I set a due date as the reminder date and have to keep moving it, which makes the thread and history muddy with updates. Setting time would be a great add for both reminders and due dates.

+1 for this. It gets so messy trying to set a reminder for this in Outlook. I rather have the functionality built into wrike.

Just like other users mentioned here, you should have the ability to select one or multiple tasks and have a reminder button where it prompts you who to send the reminder to, (where the assigned resources are prefilled), and when.

The reminders should be sent using email AND push notifications within chrome and within the user's mobile wrike app.

+ for this feature. Like Melissa I also have used Teamwork and I really enjoyed being able to set a push notification or email reminder at specific time.day.

I would also like to see a task reminder aside from the inbox reminder.  Being able to pick out tasks from within a folder or project and adding a reminder for myself or someone else would be very helpful.

I would like reminers to e-mailed too. But it also would be good to have notifications in Android app

Any news on whether this is on the radar for implementation in the next 12 months?

Task reminders are greatly needed. Seems like a v1.0 function that should already be there. Please push up the priority chain.

Any plans/ ETA for adding reminders to tasks?

Yes, a time for a task - which could be then also a meeting for a briefing with the client would be great and actually, I was quite surprised after the rest of the app is so well thought through that that is missing.

Any timeline for that?

Thanks

What Shane Knigge said. It just seems natural that if you have a task manager that it would have some sort of reminder available. We even have a properly functioning notification mechanic already! It seems bizarre not to use it to set up reminders for yourself or your team members.

Hope this will get more attention!

Does Wrike have the ability to add reminders to tasks? In example;

Task Name: Article 1

Deadline Date: 20th December

Could i then add Task Reminders to: Article 1 which emails out reminders at the custom dates e.g 18th December @ 9:00am, 19th December @ 9:00am. I don't want to have to manually go around to everyone's computer and set reminders manually, it would be good to manage this accordingly.

Any updates on when or if this feature will be added to the system? Highly requested among our users.

It would be super helpful to have a reminder feature even if it's just within the desktop app, like within Outlook.

For example:

Task: Test

Due: 12/20

But I would like a pop-reminder to work on this 12/19 9AM, as a personal reminder.

Doing this VIA email could cause a lot of flooding.

This is actually what might stop us from joining Wrike.
