[Status: Launched! 🚀] Student Employee Hours/Part-Time Hours in Work Schedule
In the Work Schedules, we can adjust the days that an employee works but unfortunately we can not edit the hours so if a student or part-time employee is only here partial days, we are unable to set that to automatically cut it from their workload availability.
Our workaround currently is to have them add a recurring task to block off the amount of time that they are out during the week but it's really not ideal. It would be much better if we could set a work schedule for them so that their capacity looks correct in the Workload tool
I'm agreed with you. It will be useful!
Hey Kelly Hanson, thank you for the suggestion! It's been passed on to our Product team 😊
Hey everyone, a quick update here; the Product team recently released custom allocation limits in the Workload chart in Labs! Through this, you can change the daily limit for team members in the Workload chart. You can activate this through this link. I've changed the status of this suggestion to "Investigating" to reflect this Labs release. Let us know what you think!
Hey, it should be very helpful to be implemented by work shedules. It's just the way other programs work. Thank you.
I've shared this feedback with the product dev team but sharing it here w/ the post as well.

While I think this Labs feature has solid potential, it still needs some development.
We would need to be able to customize the available hours by day for most of our users. Because our staff includes some student staff and part-time staff who’s hours vary by day, having the custom allocation limit the same for every day of the week just doesn’t work.
Example:
With the ability to flex the capacity by day for a user, it would be a game-changing functionality for us. We are still currently using the work-around I mentioned in my original post by having a recurring task that blocks off the hours they are not in the office. It can be a little confusing to people and definitely is hard to really report on and calculate available capacity for projects based on that. It works okay, but it’s certainly not ideal.
It would be great if this could be set for a user in their work schedule, the same as how we block off their unavailable days today but to also have the ability to easily change it in the workload chart would be amazing for days where they may adjust their schedule (doing this in the work schedule for that week would be fine too - workload chart would be perfect state).
Hi Kelly Hanson, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Labs release, I'm passing it on to the team!

I agree with everything Kelly Hanson suggests. Flexibility in #of hours per day and days of the week are necessary, especially in this day and age!
I also would like to see the same flexibility when adding vacation/PTO, so that we can apply 1-8 hrs not just an 8hr day. Without this, my team will not be able to use this function for personal PTO scheduling.
Thanks!
Hey Vicky Kim,
Thank you for sharing your feedback here! No updates at the moment; if there are any changes here, I'll be sure to let you know.
Hey everyone!
As Custom Capacity Allocation is out of Labs and is now officially a part of Wrike, I've changed the status of this post to "Launched". Thank you for sharing your feedback here! Our Product team has found it invaluable in their conversations about this idea.
Can we get a status of updating the work schedules to set the hours per day (not the workload chart workaround)? This is critical for our teams as well (see Kelly's original and updated post).
Hi Lori Osborne, thank you for reaching out! Can the Custom Capacity Allocation in Workload Charts help?

Hey Lisa this does not solve the problem as it needs to be set seperately for every sinlge workload chart.
Welcome to the Community Ludwig Seibt! I'm checking with the team now to see if there's an update for including custom capacity allocation for the work schedules. If there's an update, I'll make sure to let you know 🙌

Looks like this request has been submitted to the Products Team, which I'm eternally grateful for. We've been waiting for over a year for a fix. Like others, the workload chart is limited in its capacity. Looking forward to a permanent solution. Thanks, Lisa!
Thanks, Susan Angustia! I'm happy to let you know that the team is planning to work on this 🤗

We are having the same issue. Most people have contracts for 36 hrs (9 hours a day), 32 hrs a week, or even 24 hours per week. What really helps is a work schedule that could define the # of hours per working day per person. My solution, for now, is to create a project Non_Available_Hours which isn't really a smooth solution
Hey everyone! Our team is currently working on a solution that should be helpful for this use case, we'll be announcing its release in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned 🙂

Any updates on a solution for defining the number of hours per working day per person?
Hi Michael Clarke, welcome to the Community 👋
It's now possible to create custom work schedules. You can find more about this in this article, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Lisa,
Is it correct that it is still not possible to change the number of hours per working day (flexible to choose Mo-Tue- Wed-Thu-Fry)?
Regards Cees
Hi Cees Bakker, thank you for reaching out!
You've already discussed this with our Support team but posting here for anyone else reading this thread: it is possible to edit the daily capacity for all working days, but not for each day of the week separately.

What is the status of this? Seems like there were some early beta's in Labs available as well as articles within the help center, but everything seems to be gone?

Basudha Sakshyarika The work schedule is only full days working or full days off. There is no way to define that someone is only working 4 hours on friday and 8 hours for the rest of the week. 36h contracts are very normal and many tools support this, except for Wrike :(
That makes sense, Peter Nijssen. I will forward your feedback to our product team. Thank you! 👍🏽

Hmm, we have a similar issue like Peter discribes. 36 hours is quite normal. Why not make it flexibel, like the workload chart can be?
Thank you for the feedback, Laurens van Gunst. We will let you know if there are any updates. 👍🏽
