Enter effort on monthly level

Hello,

When looking at a specific project porfolio, we often look at an annual view. And usually we plan ressources at a high level (per month or even quarter).

We would therefore like to enter flexible allocations but at a higher level such as the month.

For example, I'd like to say that John will work on this task (that last for 5 month) 5 days in January, 10 days in February and March, for 5 days in April and for 2 days in May.

Today the only way to do that is to indicate day by day the workload... And that means to much work to enter it and maintain it correctly.

Would it be a feature that could be added ?

Thank you

Fabrice

BTW : it would go nicely with the new feature that allow you to see the capacity planning by month !

Hi Fabrice Parisot, welcome to the Community! 🙂

I hope I didn't misunderstand, but I think that what you're describing is already available as a Wrike Labs feature. It's called "Workload monthly view". Workload chart's new monthly view helps you see how many hours of effort have been scheduled in a month, rather than just days or weeks, making it easier to plan ahead. If you're ready to test this out, you can enable the monthly view in Wrike Labs

Please let me know if that helps, Fabrice!

Hi Lisa,

I know about the "Workload monthly view". It a great new functionnality : it helps me visualize workload on a monthly level.

I would like however to be able to enter flexible workload on task directly at a monthly level and not day by day.

I would like to enter "I will work 5 days in January on this task" and not "I will work on the 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th and 15th on this tasks" because it would be easier/quicker and I do not need a daily detail.

I talked with the support on this subject and they encourage me to post here.

Thank you

Fabrice

Hello,

Is there any progress on this? I have a huge upvote from my team.

In our excel file right now we do it that way :

  • I look at the high level plan
  • Our tech Bill works 1d/week on project A and 3d/week on project B until the end of April
  • Project B is planned to end at the end of April and I want to plan that Bill will work 4d/week on project A after this date
  • In Excel, we have 4 weeks per month, one cell per week, for each project, so I just have to fill the number of days I want Bill to work in each cell

Our users are very reluctant to using the workload feature because it will make their life more difficult in terms of team planning, having to adjust it in hours per day rather that days/week.

Happy to discuss with the product team.
