Propagate description in recurrent task

Hi Evereyone!

How should we proceed in order to propagate a description in one recurrent task?

For example I'm not in the first ocurrence of the task and I'd like to include something in the description in order to propagate this new description to the upcoming recurrent tasks.

Is it possible?

Best,

Ellery

Ellery,

This is possible. On any of the recurring tasks, click the ellipses and then select 'Edit recurrence'. From there you can edit the description. When you save, all recurring tasks will be updated with the new description. However, if a recurring task is already marked complete, the description will not update, but active and future recurring tasks will have the update description.

For more details on how to edit recurrent tasks, please see this help article: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/articles/209603769-Make-a-Task-Recurrent#edit

Hope this helps you!

Go to the triple dot menu at any task and click "Edit Recurrence."

You mean, in the last task active? Then the next one automatically created will receive the new description?

Just created one for testing purpose.

😃 Yeah, I don't know why that is. The text editor for the description of recurring tasks has always been different that the main task description editor.

@Eric, thanks for the explanation, it's perfect!

@Eduardo - In terms of checkbox formatting, the recurrence editor is a lighter version than the full task description editor and checkboxes are not a format option - it also changes images and colors when you edit from there. Our team is looking to make some changes to the editing options in the future so we should see some enhancements then.

For now, the solution I use (if the original task has a checkbox originally) is to copy and paste the existing checkbox icon to create more checkboxes in the description. If the original task does not have a checkbox I can copy, I just make a note [insert checkbox] or simply double brackets [] beside the text so when I work on the task I can quickly add a checkbox. Not ideal I admit but might be helpful to know 👍

The format of the text (Heading, tab, bulletin etc) are not being inherited from the base task when the recurrence task got created as per the rules outlined in the recurrent task.

Is there a plan to make this thing work properly? At times we put in thing like text box, text formatting etc as we are capturing quite a bit of information in the recurrent task description and it all got messed up when it shows up

Thank you for reaching out, TK Chuah! It would be great if you could create a separate Product Feedback post for this so I could track the feedback there and make regular checks with the Product team. For now, there's no update for text formating in the recurrent tasks, but I'll let you know when I have any news.
