See non working days at Project Level - Vacation

It would be perfect if you in someway can see non working days(national holidays e.i. easter, christmas, company meetings etc.) when you plan/schedule a project. I know you can see it when you assign tasks for individuals - but having the information before assigning tasks and already in the project planning process would be even better. - Is that a function you are looking at ?

Yes, this is a feature that would be very helpful. It could be a toggled overlay where you can customize what dates, like holidays or other team related down town are tracked.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestion, it's an interesting one. It would be great to hear where and when you'd like to see this detail so our Product Team have a better understanding of how this might work.

For example, would you like to see this detail in the scheduling calendar within the Project, or would it be an alert of some kind that would tell you that this day(s) is a holiday(s) etc.?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi,

For me it would be perfect having a scroll function at the account Schedule page With a country list (prefilled With national holidays) - maybe even possible to chose several countries for multinational Companies. Chosing the country automatically fills the account Schedule With the national non working days (not locked  - in case you have to work on those days). Futhermore a marking (red or grey scale as the weekend days) drawn from the account Schedule page to

1. the calender you have when you start to create a Project.

2. the calender you see in timeline view.

3. the calender in task when I set individual deadlines for tasks.

Then I will both be able to toggle the account Schedule national holiday to my liking, see the non working days in the timeline calender, in the create Project and in the task deadlines calender. (basically drawn from account Schedule to all the other Places the calenders are used.)

I think there should also be a way to block out days that are not holidays or vacations. Let's say you want to block out a team event week or maybe your collaborators have a week where they know they can't work on the project (e.g. board week, huddle week, conference days, off-site days, etc). We should be able to block those days on the project itself. So maybe there needs to be a Calendar view on the Project that highlights days when at least one person is not available and give the ability to block days on the project level and have start and end dates shift accordingly.

Thanks for the use-cases guys. I know that the team are thinking about adding more customisable features for Calendars so it's great to get this input, I'll be sure to bring this thread to their attention and post back here as soon as I have any more information to share 👍

Agree this is a needed feature. We have two shut-down periods a year in which all of the production-impacting work needs to get done. They are working 24x7 and we need to be able to see where things fit in the various shifts to manage it all. It would be great to have a way to create that calendar at a project level.

Kia ora

Picking up on the issue of non-working days - how do I make Saturdays and Sundays working days as a default? I ask because in community development work, communities work on community projects in non-working hours.

I hope it's on the development road map. Or if it already exists, point me to the how-to page.

Thanks in advance.

upvote!  Most of the Wrike competitors seem to have this feature (MS, SmartS, etc)

Do we have a way to set up calendar at project level. My use case is to see the project wroking and non working days on gantt chart?

Hi everyone! You can create a Calendar Exception so that once someone is assigning a task to you or @mentioning you, they will be able to see that you are unavailable. Account admins can designate their team’s workweek (the days each week they should or should not be working).

Please can we get this applied.  My need is simple.  I want to be able to block out common holiday periods - Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Chinese Golden week on a number of projects.

In  addition we have projects in UAE which need to show weekend days differently.

thanks.

Absolutely standard in most Project tools such as MS Project, Project Plan 365 and others...

A basic tool that should be added

Hi again, everyone! We've checked with the team, and for now, they don't have short-term plans to work on the ability to see non-working days on the project level. At the same time, they'll keep this feedback on their radar for the future, so please continue sharing your use-cases and upvoting here 👍

Hi
Has any progress been made on implementing this features as I would like to be able to allocate a work schedule to a plan which blocks out days when the team is unavailable?

Thanks

Wayne

Hi Wayne Hughes, welcome to the Community 👋 Thank you bumping this older thread!

It's possible to set up your own work schedules and then assign them to users in the account:

Could you tell me if that helps?

Hi

I am project manager for an industrial engineering company based in Poland. I am currently managing an international project, and my team is spread between Poland (the office) and France (the construction site). People/Users are travelling on a regular basis between these two locations, so the same User can execute some Tasks at the office for few weeks and then execute others Tasks on the construction site for another couple of weeks, depending on my Project plan.

The non-working days topic is major for me as I am facing many different situations !

I see in my use case 3 types of non-working days / Work Schedules :

  • The Work Schedule of the User (basically his own days off: vacation / sick leave / ...)
  • The Work Schedule of the office (national holidays of Poland, but also for exemple annual closure of our premises)
  • The Work Schedule of the construction site (national holidays of France, but also Saturdays are working days on the construction site when it is not the case at the office...)

From my perspective, beside the Work Schedule for the Users (existing feature in Wrike), we should be able to setup and assign different Work Schedules to the Projects and/or Tasks.

I hope my desperate request will be heard :-)

PS: I could also mention that the daily capacity of a User is different between France and Poland, due to different local regulations regarding working hours. But it is a slightly different topic...
