Anchor Date 3/4 the way through project timeline
I have a series of projects with LIVE delivery dates that all pre and post event tasks delivery should be anchored to.
I have major task categories in Folders. (Event set up, Email dev, Deployment, Live event, post event task, etc.) I would like to have all the dates for those folders final tasks (ie deliver final) to adjust based on the main anchor (ie LIve event delivery). I have tried predecessors, but as the Live event is task 30 of 45 i cannot seem to assign previous tasks to adjust when the Live event date changes.
Ideal set up: Live event date is the anchor and all pre and post tasks adjust based on any change to that live event date. Then final task in each folder (ie delivery date) would adjust and the preceding tasks would adjust.
The closest i have come to success is to have the first task in each folder be a Predecessor (LINE - X Days) and the following tasks in that same folder follow. This is however is getting out of hand when weekends are involved.
Has anyone does this successfully? Did you have to move everything out of folders?
Hi Christopher Loehrer,

you can do it by using you Live event delivery as anchor.
You do it in this way:
- Live event delivery is a milestone
- For all activities you need to do before Live event use dependencies like Finish-To-Start less then number of days of lag.
- For all activities you need to do afre Live event use dependencies like Finish-To-Start (with or without number of lag).
Here dependencies in Live event
In this way if you move Live event milestone all other task will be moved in the same moment (only if they are in Active Status Group).
For weekends date you can set if you want to work or not by using "Working days only" flag in task dates editing.
Make it sense for you?
