Zapier Integration - Show task's folder/project name and allow triggers on task updates
To make Wrike's Zapier integrations useful, they require two small changes from the current setup:
1) Show/send the name of the folder/project(s) the task belongs to in Zapier ( as it's shown in Wrike)
2) Allow for triggers when a task is updated
Additional Information:
On 1) Without the name of the project/folder, when sharing a Wrike task in any other software it's missing vital context to understand the task.
On 2) Without the ability to have triggers also occur on task updates, we're missing a big part of the current status of a Wrike task when viewing it in other tools.
Background: Zapier facilitates Wrike data to be shared/integrated with a wide array of cloud apps, including Quickbooks, Slack, Evernote, Google G Suite, Zendesk, Harvest, WordPress, SurveyMonkey and other form services and more. The changes requested above, therefore, would instantly improve the quality of many existing integrations already in place.
Hi William, thanks for your detailed feedback here. These ideas are not on any short-term roadmap at the moment but optimizing our integrations are something that we constantly work towards and this feedback is very useful during those discussions. Thanks again!
Stephen,
This requested functionality is similar to Wrike's email notices that are already present:
When a task is updated, users associated with the task are given a clear outline of what changed (description, title, etc.) via an automatic email from Wrike so they have the new information available.
We would want this information on updates to appear in other systems, hence the need for this feature in Zapier.
Thanks for this additional information William. Posting your feedback and use case here brings the idea to the attention of our Product Team and allows other users vote and discuss. If there is any new updates on this feature I'll be sure to keep you updated here.
Thanks again.
This is something my company needs to make the zapier integration useful as well. Our use case is slightly different, but enabling the features William requested would give us what we need to make it work. We want to be able to do two things:
1.) Change the status/step of a task in a workflow based on a file being added to a pre-determined folder in Google Drive
2.) Send an email reminder to the relevant team member when the task is at their step in the workflow
This would allow our managerial team to use Wrike at the level we want without our team members being required to open the app multiple times per day. Getting everyone to adopt project management software on a remote team is extremely difficult, and making this one platform change would circumvent the need for us to constantly send reminders to update tasks.
Edit: also just wanted to say that Wrike is an amazing platform -- by far the best project management I've ever used. You guys have built something truly great and we appreciate what your company is doing.
Hello Wrike Team,
As a follow-up to this, it looks like this is still not possible, and is urgently needed.
You cannot currently see, in Zapier or your direct Slack integration, the name of the project or folder. Without this information, it is not possible to ascertain who a task applies to, rendering the integrations not useful.
An update on this simple change would be much appreciated, as always. Thank you!
@William Hi, thanks for following up. With the preview function of the direct Slack integration, you're able to see the name of the Folder/Project the task is in (it's at the very bottom of the preview). The information is not on notifications though, is that where you would like to see it?

While I appreciate the (theoretical) workaround, asking users to type a command and copy/paste the URL just to see the folder/project name really has no utility at all. It'd be faster for a user to simply click on the URL.
In the meantime, until this gets resolved, the Slack integration will not function properly, and users will simply need to rely on Wrike email notifications, which do contain the folder/project name.
Hi William, I apologize I wasn't trying to give a workaround, was more so interested in knowing what type of data you were interested in seeing. Thank you for the extra insight into what you were looking for, that's really helpful as we pass this to the Product Team.
