Adding hashtags to projects, folders and tasks

Hi Todd, thanks for sharing your idea on the Community! I noticed that two copies of it were created, so I'm going to go ahead and delete the other one (since it's identical). I relly appreciate the use cases you've outlined here, this is helpful. Something we suggest now is using Folder tags in place of hashtags, then opening the corresponding Folders or searching for these tags to get a more granular insight. I do understand how regular hashtags could be helpful though. Where do you think would be a good place for adding the hashtag (i.e. the title, in a separate field)?

Also wanted to share another similar request you might be interested in voting for: Dynamically add tags while typing in a new task title. 

Folder tags work.  I didn't dig deep enough.  I'll try that out.

I can see how they would be good for searching, but can they be used for analytics?

Todd, thanks for getting back to me! Happy to hear that Folder tags could help. Tags can be used in Reports and Analytics simply by opening the Folder of the corresponding tag, or selecting it as the source data for Reports. For example, a Report on Tag A will give you info about all tasks with this attribute, regardless of the other locations they're in. You can choose multiple Folders as Report source data, which could help combine info in some cases. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Hashtags, in our view, should be supported across the platform (tasks, notes, descriptions et al), for searching on customers, resources, and other likely data.  Many collaborators want to see how much activity on a certain account, hashtags would help there.  Coming from #WunderList, we find the lack of Hashtags to be a real blocker for us.  Thanks for your consideration.  EDIT 10/03/17 Lack of Hashtag support is becoming a big roadblock for us.  I have added six staff to Wrike, they work on multiple projects, and need to be able to cross search on various tags.  Folder tagging is clunky and doesn't answer the need.  Please implement Hashtagging!  See #Wunderlist for how this works, thanks again for your consideration.

We are currently using folder tags, but I agree: actual tags would be very helpful in a lot of different ways.

I would like to definitely see the ability to add Folder Tags as a field in REQUEST (Form) submissions. At this stage the forms only allow for requests to be filed into a particular location. By having a field that allows users to enter in the Folder Tags then a request can show in multiple places. For us as an Agency, when a form is submitted it needs to go into the Department and also the Client folders.

Hoping to see something being developed in this space.

Guys, I cannot agree more. I am completely disapointed not be be able to add tags / Hashtags at task level for reporting. Wirke is really a tradiotnal project management tool from my perspective. not really agile in the current state. This is must have.

hashtags use case is different from folder tags for us. For an example, we want to hashtag tasks that we would like to focus on when our global team meet in person once a quarter. If we could do #workshop in the task discussion and be able to pull all tasks which has #workshop from one place across different projects and folders that would be very useful.

We'd like hashtags as well, creating a folder structure for an ever growing list of items every time we discover we'd like to try to track something new related to a task or project is a lot of overhead for something that could be accomplished more simply.  Right now we're trying to manage an ever changing list of departments and categories for an ongoing maintenance project and adding a new folder every time we'd like to add a new item is an extra unnecessary step.

I'm wondering if a Custom Field would help here. You could use a Dropdown custom Field and then later filter by the Custom field to see only tasks with the chosen field. 

I understand this is not exactly what you're looking for but it might be useful in some use cases outlined here.

This would be a really helpful addition to Wrike. When we want to pull certain tasks from projects, the folder tag isn't always fit for use.

this would give Wrike a new dimension, as most other tools have limited tags that you guys already have solved much better with your folders & projects, which effectively introduce an organization for what is traditionally just a bunch of flat labels/tags in other apps.  But if you did add this simple tag structure, with some reasonable reporting around it, you really open up a new dimension.

I agree 100%, especially with that linked post at the top (being able to create on the fly when typing in the title).  NirvanaHQ and a few other GTD platforms do this really well.  In NirvanaHQ everything starts as a regular hashtag (for simplicity), then in a settings interface you can specify if the tag is a person, tag, workspace, etc.

I love the "Stream" view - it is the one critical feature I need to function - AND NO OTHER PLATFORM I HAVE TESTED HAS IT.  I use folders as tags so that I can view content based meeting type.  For me, the folder tags are people, products, vendors, etc.
