Creating Task with Email Integration - Setting Status at time of setup
We use a custom workflow and I want to be able to email to create a new task and set the task to specific status.
I can get "Test [Cancelled]" or "Test [Complete]" to work but when I try other status like "[Unassigned]" or even a native status like "[On Hold]" the task fails to complete.
Thank you in advance for the help
Hi Ped,
have you read this article? Editing Task Details via Email – Wrike Help Center
If you want to assign a custom status, you have to use [CS:xxx] in the email subject.

Hi Ped Watt - I am not sure what email platform you use, and you may already use this, but I also like the integration with outlook or the other email apps. It allows you to setup the tasks and adjust workflows. Here's a quick article - Wrike for Outlook
Michelle McMillen, We use Outlook, however we use Rubbertree as our CRM which doesn't appear to have an integration with Wrike. However, I can have Rubbertree email a specific email address every time an opportunity is created, and (hopefully) have that drive task creation for our Application Engineers.
Ped Watt Got it. So are you using the "Update by email" on a folder or a project and it's not coming in as a certain status? If so, my other thought is that you could have a folder/project for your leads, send the leads from Rubbertree to that folder with the "Update by Email" feature that creates a new task, and then set up an automation that looks at any new items that are created in that folder or project and assigning them a status. You could also add some additional automations to it, but from what I see it needs to come in as one status. I've put some screenshots below of the update by email screenshot and the automation rule. Hope I'm understanding correctly and that this helps.

Michelle McMillen, Those do help. My next step is review it and create a project from a blueprint. Which I can automate based on changed the status based on the status changing to a certain status. I wish there was a way to automatically transfer the title and description from the task to project created from blueprint based on the status change automation (or other automation)
Ped Watt - agreed. I wish we could easily transfer a task into a project (and even with a blueprint). To your point, an automation would be even better. Here's a product feedback post about transferring a task into a project if you want to go upvote it. :)
Hi Ped Watt,
i don't think Automation is a good solution for your use case. Didn't you ask for assigning different statuses by email? Using the automation like Michelle suggested would assign the same status for every task created in this folder.
If you would add the string [CS:Unassigned] (or something else) to the email subject, you could decide whicht status is assiged to every task, and you don't need an automation rule for this.

Hi Michelle McMillen!
Thanks for linking this feature request, but there's another one which seems more original, with much more activity. And the use case of creating a project by email is described in the first comments: [Status: Not planned] Convert a Task into a Project – Wrike Help Center
