This week, weโ€™re discussing managing editorial calendars for content operations in Wrike.ย 

Real-life example:

If you work in marketing operations or content operations, you need to plan content and manage publications for various channels. You can use a combination of Wrike features that will help you and your team members plan, manage and track whatโ€™s planned for publication and when.ย 

Editorial Calendars Setup

You can create a pipeline for developing and publishing new content on a regular basis. Use a content calendar template to create a steady stream of content pieces and bring visibility to the organization. Collect a backlog of ideas, push content through a custom workflow, and track status through dashboards and calendars.

We are currently only using our calendar in wrike for upcoming launch dates and Go live dates for clients. But growing into Content operations would be a great idea!

We use Wrike Calendars for tracking PTO requests per office as well as for creating Master Gantt Charts for Clients.ย  This gives them real-time access to see their dates and deadlines across their portfolio of projects.ย ย

We are a radio station, and every single program has a corresponding wrike task which is primarily used in a calendar view.

We have a custom workflow for these program tasks that show the status of planning. If a task doesn't have the status "planned" or higher, it doesn't show up in this calendar view. The color is used either so separate different types of program or to show the status, so it can be easily seen which programs are not ready to go on air.

We use the due date as the date of transmission, but we really miss the ability to set also a time, to exceed the wiev to a real calender with an hourly grid.

Not something we use - but it's good to be exposed to different ideas incase they might be relevant and you haven't thought of using the software that way.

We produce a large 248 page catalog annually that is built using a highly customized way of Wriking for proofing, content, production, mailing lists/validation. It would take more than a comment to dive in, but table views are a great tool to use as week for visibility!

We use Wrike Calendar in combination with MS Teams to help communicate to our whole deployment community, not everyone has access to Wrike :( to keep everyone informed on key activities to help set weekly and monthly priorities.

We use calendars but haven't found the sweet spot yet. Trying to find the right level of detail needed - using aggregate tasks for posts over a period of time or one task per item ... following to learn more.

Thanks everyone for sharing your ideas. it's inspirational.

We are currently not using the calendar as much, as we need to find a way to properly work around the workflow for our social media management team, but I'm betting it would be a great tool for them to see the upcoming plans for publishing. Might have to look a bit more into it in the coming month.

Although our entire company has adopted Wrike, we use Outlook/Teams for calendars. It's interesting to read about other use cases here and see ways we could integrate Wrike.

One of the main reasons for us joining Wrike was to have one place for our partners and teams to see what is happening holistically across the business. This was definitely a feat getting this set up but our folders and projects now make up our editorial calendar showcasing multiple pieces of content across multiple channels. It is still a WIP and we do still have Qs - is there a recommendation for setting up a distribution or "go live" calendar for everything that goes out on all channels (videos, social posts, blogs that are published across FB, website, intranet and email)?ย

What I've been seeing with many users is how they set up calendar layers that mirror the folder structure to show different campaigns on one calendar if you want a catch-all view. Different layers representing pre-created folders for each campaign will be shown in different colours that you can also change to ensure visibility but also the ability to differentiate them.
