[Status: Launched! ๐] Multiple folders in dashboard widget
When creating a new widget within a dashboard, you can choose a folder from wich tasks should be selected. It would be nice be able to add several folders in this view, and with an additional choice of selecting whether it should include the tasks that remain in either one of the folders, or just the ones that are in both.
Also, when dragging tasks to this widget in the dashboard, the task needs to be put in both folders. (Or maybe one could check/mark the folders that one wanted the tasks added to)
ย
I know that I can achieve somewhat the same behaviour today, by doing a search for "folder:folderB" from within folderA and add this as a widget. But that gives me the problem that when dragging a task to this widget on a dashboard, the task will only be added to folderA. Also it is rather cumbersome to handle widgets this way.
Adding to this chain.ย It would be extremely helpful and offer a more comprehensive view of work if we could select multiple folders in one widget.ย
Our dashboards are overwhelming to look at due to our need to work in several folders....
ย
thanks,
Stacey

This feature would be AMAZING! As an add on...it would be super helpful to be able to easily select which folder you would like to pull from. There is not much consistency with the search results when searching for folders in a widget from one user to the next.ย
Hi everyone! The status is still 'Investigating' here - I'll let you know when that changes, I keep asking for the updates for this suggestion ๐
As for the workaround mentioned: you can use the search command 'folder:' (you can use several search commands simultaneously, just make sure to separate them with a space):
then click 'Search' and you'll get a list of all tasks in those folders.ย
Click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and then click on 'Add to Dashboard' - here you go ๐ Hope it helps!

@Lisa This functionality does not work for us:ย
we tried inputting more than one folder:name command into the search field, and cannot get it to show tasks or anything in either, in fact what it does show doesn't make any sense at all.ย
What I'm typing: title:internal folder:creativeย
works and shows all relevant tasks, etc.
ย
What I'm typing: title:internal folder:"product development"
ย works and shows all relevant tasks, etc.
ย
What I'm typing: title:internal folder:creative folder:"product development"
ย doesn't work, shows tasks in other folders unrelated to these.ย
A colleague and i have tried dozens of other combinations with simpler folder names and simpler search criteria, adding more than 1 folder filter does NOT work for us.
Yes this is not only very much needed, but could be the killer feature for dashboards!
The work around that you mention appears to be limited to the OR logic. Which is good for certain use cases.ย If you wanted to make sure the search only brought up tasks in BOTH folders I think we need the devs to add in the full Boolean logic options to folder search for dashboard. Would be amazing.
Hey everyone! Quick update - the investigation continues and I'll probably be back in Q1 2020 with more details about this suggestion. Thank you for the comments and updates! ๐

So this is STILL being investigated? We had to keep our spaces separated due to possible client conflicts, but we have a few employees that can support work on all accounts. The only solution to get a wholistic view (without buying the resourcing add-on) of what someone is working on is being able to select folders from different locations.
This has been an active thread for TWO years and yet there is no solution to this problem?
Please update ASAP.
I believe this is related to the folder sort issue which has been going on for longer.ย Most basic CRMs allow you to do Boolean search logic.ย The dashboard in Wrike are the only thing left setting it apart and it's why I love it.ย But this missing feature is why I'm always one foot out the door.
I think there is some fundamental technical barrier about the way the platform is built that is going to prevent the ability to sort folder as you wish, and be able to search across multiple folder in an AND/OR fashion.ย Call it technical debt.ย I think it also affects the permission implementation as well. I can't explain the need for "spaces" at all except that standard permissions are not possible. The first thing I noticed was that you couldn't create a dashboard across spaces.ย I was immediately puzzled by that.
There is a lot you could do if you could search across folders.
The logic in Wrike to build calendars across multiple folders/spaces already exists, so how hard would it be to just apply it to dashboards?????ย ๐ฉ๐ฉ

I have never seen the screen you are showing.ย What does that do - where can I find it!
oh Calendars.....I see
Lisaย same here...any update on this feature and will this also be included in another paid feature or available for all users?
Best, Jessica.
Yes - we want the ability to go to one dashboard and see everything in one location at one time and not have 3 separate views.
Thanks
Would really love to have this feature!! As an Ops Manager, I have many different sections of the business to keep track of, a lot that are cross-functional. It makes it difficult to track those folders that have overlapping teams working on them.
New user here, and already feeling the pain of not having this feature - dashboard usually implies high level overview, which implies more than one project or folder.ย ย Not sure what folks are doing without this feature - is everyone just constantly flipping back and forth through a bunch ofย dashboards?ย ย
I have been struggling with the Dashboard and Reporting options for some time.ย Now, I basically just use the Table view and it's filters.ย If I need to print it out, I just capture the screen.ย Definitely not ideal.ย
Hey again, everyone! I've checked with the team, and I found out that the research continues for this suggestion. The team is now focused on the filtering experience across the product, so I'll be checking with them next quarter to see whether or not they are able to get to this particular suggestion later this year. I'm also passing all feedback, so thanks for sharing your use-cases here!ย

Definitely keen for this feature.
We have a header folder with multiple sub-folders and due to privacy some team members only have two or three of the sub-folders shared with them.ย I can't share the header folder with them, but they need to be able to see all tasks under that header folder (i.e. all tasks within the two or three folders they have access to) in one list on their dashboard.ย The only other way to get around this is to create a dashboard showing all their tasks in a complete list which is just too busy.
Just wondering why this has taken over 2 years to resolve?
ย
Hey Carlee Williams, thank you for the feedback! It's been passed on to our Product team.
If we could, we would implement every suggestion on the Community as soon as we can. You can read more about our process with how suggestions are processed here.ย
As soon as I have an update for you on the status of this, I'll let you know ๐
Hello, I can see the discussion about having choice to add multiple folders in dashboard widget since year 2017, wonder whether this feature has been make available by now by the product team? As I still did not see it in dashboard widget. Can someone help if you know any latest update about this?
Thanks
ย
Hi Casey Ang, it is currently not possible to add multiple folders in a Dashboard widget, but the team is investigating this as a possible new implementation. As soon as I have an update for you, I'll let you know!
Right now I have 4 widgets on my dashboard, because there are 4 different folders that I'm monitoring. I would like this feature, so that I can consolidate a couple folders into a single widget, making it easier to monitor and allowing me to possibly create another widget for other purposes.
Please prioritize this change, its been multiple years since this issue was brought to your attention.
thanks!
Makes sense, Chris Hughes, thank you for sharing your use-case here! It's very helpful when we're passing your feedback, to share as much detail as possible with the teamย ๐

Hello, I've tried using the workaround for two folders, however I need to display these two folders, and all tasks in sub-folders within those two folders. Is there a way to do that?
Hi everyone!ย ๐

I really hope this functionality will come soon!
Hey Sander Driessen, glad to hear you're excited about this! We'll update this thread as soon as we have more informationย ๐
We are definitely excited as well, as the start of this thread is posted by a colleague after discussing the lack of this filtering in dashboard-widgets.
Thank you, we are looking forward to having this functionalityย ๐
Thanks Linda Fermann!ย ๐
