The Shepherd - A story of the first Christmas

I'd recommend exploding kittens as a game for Christmas! Always a great laugh (no kittens actually explode 😉)

It's not very Christmassy (more like Halloween!), but my family currently can't get enough of the board game HORRIFIED. Many holiday hours will be spent playing this game together while we're all on break. It's a ton of fun and it's cooperative rather than competitive so you leave the table feeling like you've all worked together to achieve a common goal.

Game: Jackbox Party Pack for group gatherings. Everyone can play or join-in on the fun. My personal favorite is Jackbox Party Pack 6.

Movies: Too many good Christmas/Holiday movies out there. But a must-watch is always 'Elf'.

Documentaries: Not really a documentary, rather a docudrama: "The Man Who Invented Christmas" is a fictionalized account of Charles Dickens.

Robin Pepper I was one of the original kickstarters for that game. It's so fun, and it's been cool to see the other spinoffs come from it.

My recommendations: Athlete A (Netflix documentary), Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (Netflix movie), Top Gun Maverick (Movie), Death on the Nile (Movie), "Schooled" by Ted Fox, "Content" a comedy novel by Sam Clemens and "Wood's Reef" an adventure novel by Steven Becker.

Christmas Movies: I enjoy watching Hallmark movies this time of year, but other than that, I would say Holiday Inn and White Christmas are some other favorites! 

Games: Euchre, Codenames, 7 Wonders, Colt Express, and Lords of Waterdeep are some favorites!

Our family and friends get together at Christmas and play the saran wrap ball game! If you haven't seen it, google it. Some items are prizes and some are not! 😂

We always play Uno and Phase 10 when the whole family gets together.  But, we have been adding in a few other card games over the years:  Exploding kittens, throw, throw, burrito, what do you meme, and cards against humanity (once the kids go to bed). 

As books I recommend: The Magic Word by Paolo Borzacchiello (it's in Italian) is a fantastic book, which through a fictional story helps us understand how words interact with our brain and with our hormones.

A book that is translated into all languages is definitely: How to Win Friends and Influence People written by Dale Carnegie.
A book that I recommend to all those who, like me, deal with people and have to help them (and often convince them) to change their opinion or to adopt a new work tool. Very useful if you are the Wrike Ambassador in your company.

If you're ready to confront the cultural appropriation built into Christmas and understand why it has become the phenomenon that it is today I recommend The Christmas Question documentary https://youtu.be/Yei17uJeKuw It's written for bible-followers, but there is a lot of deep research that anyone should find intriguing. 

My family always loves to watch 2 movies as a tradition: National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and A Muppet Family Christmas (1987). 

My wife and I, since moving away from our families, now like to play games like Exploding Kittens and Scrabble!

Lastly, I'd recommend the book Buttermilk Graffiti for those of us in the United States in prep for the new year. It's a great memoir about food across the US and cultures mixing to create new foods.

It's on my list to watch the documentary "Stutz" on Netflix but Fred Claus is my favorite underrated Christmas movie!

Ted Lasso is a great family friendly stream that is funny, moving and well acted

A Christmas Carol - Alistair Sim, Reginald Owen, or Patrick Stewart as Ebenezer Scrooge are my favorites - The Chuck Jones animated version is great if you grew up in the 70s. 

Eloise at Christmastime is a family tradition. (The book)

A Christmas Story is a classic in our home.

A Bad Mom's Christmas is good for adult humor.

Griswolds are a must for Christmas: "Christmas Vacation"

Not holiday-related, but since the season slows down for some (especially B2B marketers like myself), it's a good time for a deep dive. For executives, marketers, and truly anyone that is committed to their company's success, I recently discovered and enjoyed a book called Fusion: How Integrating Brand and Culture Powers the World's Greatest Companies by Denise Lee Yohn. Enjoy!

Highly recommend any games by the Exploding Kittens team.

An all-time family favorite is Settlers of Catan (and expansions). So much fun, and great for the young kids, too.

The Santa Clause with Tim Allen (from the 90's) is still one of my favorite holiday movies, but everyone has already mentioned so many of the classics (new and old).

I've done terrible at reading lately, so looking forward to some good recommendations to add to my list!

We have a tradition of watching a Riff Tracks version of a Christmas movie like "Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny" - the Riff Track makes it so funny. 

Not holiday related but a good family game year round is Mr. Toast! 

Can't go past a game of Monopoly when the family is all together.

Nothing else tests the strength of the family bond like it!
