Pull Report on Search List
Something we would find really helpful for our team is the ability to pull a report based on something we search for in the search function. For example, we have some projects that we reprint multiple times during the year. For these reprints, we keep the unique ID throughout the year, but have to have a record of all of the reprints we did of that specific project. So the origin project might be titled 12345_Project_02-18 and then the reprint would be titled REPRINT_12345_Project_02-18. In this instance, we would like to be able to search for the unique ID (12345 used in the example) affiliated with the origin project, and then pull a report based on the amount of projects that fit that search. Another example would be if we had multiple versions of the same project in a year, we would want to keep the same unique ID number so that we could pull a report at the end of the year to show how many times we had to update the same piece.
Hi Sage, thanks for your post. There may be a solution to this, but I just have a few questions so I fully understand your ways of working:
By reprint, do you mean you duplicate the Project and rename with 'reprint'?
Are the main items you are searching for Projects or tasks?
For now, tags might be a best practice to manage this going forward. For example. If you created a new Folder, e.g. 'Tracking Folder' and tagged it to these related Projects, you could then run a Report based on that new Folder as the source data. It would then give you this detail, (plus a little more information).
Let me know what you think of this idea. Looking forward to your reply 🙂
@Stephen Thanks so much for this suggestion of using tags, I was going crazy trying to do this too (create a report for all tasks that have a certain name) tagging them all into a folder lets us selectively remove/add too; I'm wondering how easy this might be to add to a blueprint, either way this is very helpful. thanks!
Happy to hear Stephen's suggestion helped Joey Lopez 🙂
