Datahub custom field automations
Has anyone been able to set up automations using custom fields connected to Datahub? I've created a test database and set up custom fields both at space and account level which are connected to my test database but when I try and create an automation the datahub custom fields don't appear in my list of options to automate.
What I am trying to achieve is:
- New folder is created
- Datahub custom field updated at folder level
- For every new project and task within the folder the same custom field value is carried across
I have had the same issue. Hopefully this is something they will be able to resolve. It could be a solution to carrying data between project, folder and task instead of having to fill in redundant information across more than one item type.
I just tried. In a custom item type within the same space, I can see dathub fields in the list of custom fields (for the trigger 'when custom field changes), but when I choose one, it is not selected and therefore I cannot make the automation rule.
When we were setting up our workspace with a member of the profesional services team she told us that the way Datahub works is if that it doesn't read what's actually in the field. Instead the backend looks at the data and just sees a string of numbers. This means that you can't set up automations based on it.
For example, if you have a multi-select field called 'POC'. You cannot set an automation that says "When 'POC' is XXXX then do this." This is because on the Back end Wrike doesn'ts see 'XXXX' they see 1847230.
I asked her if there was a way for us to see what the numbers were so we could set automations that way and was told that's not possible.
I agree, we were very excited about DataHub when we heard about it, but not being able to set automations based on those fields certainly slows things down. We reply on Wrike Integrate for the automations we need instead.
