Workfow API and Space Workflows

The workflow API does not retrieve space workflows at this time.

I spent some time trying to figure out why my space workflows were not being retrieved by the API, then I asked support to find out that space workflows are not yet supported by the API. I thought I would share this in case someone else was running into the same issue.

Tech Support did mention that this feature may be available in 2023 but they were not able to share a target date.

My temporary solution was to make the workflow an account workflow. Not as organized, but it is functional.

I am not the owner of the workflow I'd like to retrieve from the API endpoint, so the workaround (making the space workflow into an account workflow) will not work for me.

Is adding space workflows to the workflows API endpoint on the roadmap for 2024?

Here's the reply from our Support team:

Currently, API supports only the Account Wide Workflows and it is not possible to retrieve Space Workflows using Wrike’s API call to the workflows endpoint. We are planning to make API support Space Workflows, however, there is no ETA yet. Here are 2 options you can try:

  1. Convert Space Workflow to Account Workflow. It can be done by the Space Admin who is also the Account Admin. 
  2. Retrieve Space workflow using statuses. To do this, you can create tasks in each status of the Space Workflow and then use GET /tasks?permalink={taskPermalink} to get customStatusId's. Here is an article about finding permalinks in Wrike.

It's important to note that this is not an official method. Although it is functional at the moment, we can't guarantee that this solution will remain unchanged in the future.
