How to report on planned hours (effort) ???

Hi,
We are using Wrike for professional services which includes the Wrike resource add on.
I plan work for our team in workload chart and once this is done I want to be able to report on the planned hours (planned effort) between two dates, but i cannot see any way to do this.

The main reason I need this funcitonality is because I have customers on retainers with a set number of hours per month. I need to be able to see how many hours I have planned for them so I don't go over / under. There are many other occaisons when I will need to report on planned hours also.

From the Timelog view of a project / folder it is possible to report on time spent between two dates. So the functionality exists for looking at completed time entries. I just don't understand why there is no way to do this for future planned hours? It seems like something many people would need to do.

Is there a way to do this? Am I missing something?

Hi Lisa,

Yes, I have some email discussion with support but no solution yet.

To be more spcecific, I want to report on the total planned effort within a folder between any two dates.

For your reference, in our Wrike folder structure we have:

- A folder for each client

- Projects inside the client folders

- Multiple tasks assigned to each project

If you have any ideas I would appreciate assistance, thanks!

Hi again, Paul Connor! I can see that you're having a discussion around that, and it looks like the report that you're looking to use doesn't exist as functionality in Wrike. I'd still recommend scheduling a call with our Support agent to have a more in-depth discussion - you can do it from your ticket.

HI there-

Adding on to this. I was hoping with the Advanced Analytics enabled, I could create a workaround. The goal was to show how many hours would be billed per project month by month into the future. The capability is in Wrike because it is on the resources tab. You can see planned effort month by month into the future. The challenge is that I can't figure out any way to use the Wrike Analyze tool to view that data in a friendly way.

I tried using the formula below to show how much effort is planned for each month, however the parameter won't work as I expected. The hope was that this would give me the total effort for the next month or the next two months etc..

([Total Task Effort (minutes)],Next(month,2))

This is a big deal to my organization and would love it to make its way into the product as it is a basic business need for Pro Services organizations.

Thanks!

hi Josh Hart what was the solution in the end? We would like to show the hours / effort for the comings months in an histogram.

Nils-

No it was not. Wrike doesn't have an ability to project effort/hours into the future, at least in a usable format. I met with the product team and it sounds like they are considering some of this for future releases. We are manually copying every hour into a spreadsheet from the "Resources" tab on each project. We have 160 projects, so that is a tough task to do every other week. The data we need is there on that tab, but it can't be exported or reported on, even with the advanced reporting. There isn't a "sum" total on this page either, which would be useful for 160 projects. This is the only thing that Wrike can't do for us and unfortunately is a huge deal for our Pro Services organization. Out of necessity, we are having to move to spreadsheets and won't be able to do this for very long.. Hope this helps.

+1 for this one. It would be great to be able to show effort in reporting. Would be the number 1 thing to show for us.

I know this is an old thread, but you could achieve this functionality by exporting the workload chart for specific start/end dates to Excel, and then sum the column for "Total task effort (h)" or "Total allocated effort (h)" (I'm not sure what the difference is b/w those). Not ideal to have to export data to another tool to do this, but much easier than manually filling out a spreadsheet..

Also would love this functionality. We have to report our schedule ahead of time to people within our company and the level of detail needed exceeds what the workload chart export can give us. The report when the total effort is spread across multiple days doesn't clearly show that it is on multiple days. It just says 16 hours on one day (the "start date"). We have been manually adjusting the excel doc, but it would be nice if the report could break it out with the allocated effort per day.

Hi, has anything come out of these requests? I also need to visualize future effort versus capacity in on clear report. Total capacity versus total effort planned in the future.

Thanks

I too am interested in this functionality.  I would like to be able to generate a report to see future resource utilization across all of our resources based upon project, not a dashboard.  This way the report can be generated and emailed on a set recurrence to leadership to allow for resource planning and/or project priority planning.

Has this issue ever ben addressed? We'd love to report on task effort between two specific dates to forecast how much revenue we can expect to recognize in a given time period based on estimated effort. This would be a game changer for operational and financial visibility
