[Status: Backburner ⏳] Recurring Tasks Improvements
Apologies if these are listed elsewhere - I have searched!
We're having a number of 'issues' with recurring tasks - we use them frequently across Wrike. Definitely into the hundreds, already created.
The biggest issue I have is the creator of tasks and the fact that when the user is downgraded, the recurrence stops. When staff leave, we downgrade them - but I cannot lose the tasks or spend the time recreating them. So we need a way of transferring ownership, or easily amending the recurrence.
This is now causing me big issues - I have no idea how many tasks I need to recreate (see below), but it's at least 50. I don't have this time.
I would also love:
- An easy way to change the status of the task, if set up incorrectly for the recurrence. Currently I have to amend the task, delete the recurrence, change the status then recreate the recurrence!
- A way to identify just recurring tasks - with some sort of filter/search etc. Having to look for the circular arrow just doesn't work
- Switch off inbox notifications for recurring tasks - it fills the inbox up with useless info as the task will clearly be listed on dashboard/My Work

I agree with the comments above. Although reoccurrence should make our lives easier, when we have a user leaves that set them up originally or if we need to make edits to them, it is actually quite manual. It makes us have to rethink our strategy of even using reoccurrences. There hasn't really been a ton of major updates to the reoccurrences so I am really hoping this can get on the roadmap soon as it does seem like there are many in the same boat. Updates to these types of tasks would be very beneficial!

Like a few others in this thread, I also would like to fix recurrences so the original author isn't automatically locked into following it until the end of the recurrence. I've upvoted those who've made the same comment in hopes of getting this resolved.
I also have an idea for those who have complained about the challenges when team members leave. Our team has set up a report for "current active tasks by user." Even though we always select another user to transfer the former team member's tasks to before we remove them from our account, we always check the report first to see if any tasks need to be deleted, updated or modified in some way before transferring all tasks to a new user. This isn't a perfect solution for catching the recurring tasks ahead of time since this report only shows current active tasks and the next recurrence may have not popped up yet, but it's better than nothing. We have also alerted the authors of recurring tasks that they should be sure to modify them the next time they pop up if they see that the wrong users are tied to them in the future, or if they're no longer necessary and can be deleted completely.

This is an issue that Wrike needs to address. Losing a task recurrence when the creator of the recurrence has a licensing change or leaves the company, and no way to easily find these to even know this will be an issue is a very big gap and high risk.
I hope that Wrike starts addressing some of these major shortcomings instead of continuous change and feature additions that are not requested, and often not needed, by your user base (i.e., yet another major UI change)
