Ability to assign a skill set to a task vs. an individual
We do not use Wrike across the enterprise - so it would be nice to be able to assign a skill set that we can use to communicate project resource needs outside of our department. Logically via the timeline vs. using a create field and creating a report.
Anyone else do this?
Additionally, it would be great to be able to filter by skills on the workload view so you can check availability of resources with the skills needed.
We would like this for internal planning purposes as well, I don't know which of my 2 developers might complete a task for 6 months from now, and I don't want them to get notifications about it or see it in their to-do items until closer to start, but it would be nice to know how much work we have planned for that team in general without having to assign to a specific person.
Hi all, our team is discussing and researching enhancements to the Workload View and believe this conversation will add value to these discussions.
Thank you for sharing and adding input and if I have an update I'll be sure to post back here 🖖
What's the current status on implementing skills?
Hi Jason Pontius, I don't have an update for you on implementing skills in Wrike. As soon as I have an update on this, I'll let you know.
Until then, would Job Roles work as a workaround? You can group users by their Job Roles on the Workload chart or assign every user with a Job Role quickly in a task or project.
It is incredible frustrating to not be able to view workloads and assign work based on a skill. We work in a multi-layer professional services business and need to assign specific work based on looking at which user available has a certain skill not based on job roles. As job roles only lets you assign one per person this does not help us with this challenge
Lee Whitaker I agree with you and we have seen no updates to this thread in over a year. I have used products in the past that supported skills, and it can be very convenient to assign or filter resources based on what their skills are. Just because a person has a particular role does not indicate what set of skills they have versus another person. And as Lee mentioned, you can't assign a person to multiple roles.
Skills are part of the properties of that resource which help define what they can do. This is valuable to many companies.

This old comment was helpful to me as an idea, but built in functionality is always better. I'd upvote
