Prevent Deleting Comments

Agree, this feature is missing big time

Hi,

When we are referring to something wrong (feedback, process, change,...). Sometimes the person making the mistake erase the comment. So if we go back to the comments we can't see the mistake anymore. This is not very collaborative. 

I suggest to have a limited time (like the time for updating the comments). So the timeline is really all discussions nothing will be missing

Hi guys, I can see how this would be a useful tool. For now, deleting comments is mainly for removing any inaccurate information provided in ever which can confuse and sometimes even delay tasks from being complete. Providing the opportunity to delete this detail is a useful feature for those cases.

The only people who can delete a comment is the person who created the task and the person who creates the comment.

I think this could be looked at for further enhancement however so I'll be sure to bring it to the attention of the Product Team - thanks for sharing your use-cases, they add a lot of value for the team 👌

I fully agree, users should not be able to delete comments for accountability reasons.

Please prevent Edit and Delete Comment!


I am new in Wrike, please make this feature as soon as possible, both Edit and Delete comment could be disabled somewhere in setting page,   this maybe a reason we drop Wrike.

We want to keep every comment which helps to trace/monitor entire discussion through comment. You may feel the pain especially when working on cross team project. 

Please, constrain this option for accountability reasons.

There should be some countdowns for "Edit" and "Delete" options.

E.G.: 10 min for "Edit" and 5 min for "Delete"

I agree, users should not have the right to delete or edit comments. Especially without displaying the history of changes.

I fully agree with the above, administrators should have the ability to restrict users from being able to edit and/or delete comments.

Maybe another way to mark incorrect content for a user would be the ability to strike an element.

So therefore it is not deleted, but the user can still mark it as incorrect or incomplete information. I think deleting should be possible with some kind of version history.

In order to accommodate the needs of those who require a trustable "audit trail" for accountability in task comments (a great many of us), as well as the need to be able to make incorrect comments not cause misunderstandings, why not provide a way to strikethrough or otherwise tag comments or selected text within a comment as incorrect/erroneious, and even allow the correction to be made with the correctors information and time stamp included.  That would be part of the comment history.  The corrected comment and the updated, correct comment, should have a link to each other to make it easy to see where corrections were made in the thread.

If you don't wish to delete comments, then just don't delete them.  No need to implement as a feature.

Just "not deleting comments" won't suffice for larger enterprises. Many businesses and organizations require a reliable audit trail that cannot be altered, to ensure accountability for operational activities.

If you don't trust your workers to be accountable, then why do you hire them and put them in positions of responsibility. 

For companys working on pharma and medical devices its not a matter of trust. Safety against manipulation is an inherent requirement by most authoritys.

From my point of view, if a user delets a comment from a task/project,

this activity must be logged in the comments section!

For example: 

Jack Miller has deleted the following comment:

"Dear colleagues, we set the price of this project at 100 US$."

ALL actions INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE must be clearly traceable per project / folder / space

Wrike is a strongly dynamic environment and it is mandatory to have the means to examine the development of your responsibility area.

This feature is essential for us too. Even if there was a record of the comment being deleted, and who by, that would be helpful. The sad reality of working in a large org is that some users will want to hide their mistakes or anything that could make them look bad.
