Wrike-Up Wednesday: Today I Learned! 💡

Here's something incredible I recently learned:

A Cuvier's beaked whale can hold its breath for 222 minutes (3 hours and 42 minutes).

I’ve got a cool one to share too! Did you know that octopuses have three hearts? ❤️🦑 Two pump blood to their gills, while one pumps it to the rest of the body. And when they swim, the heart that delivers blood to the body actually stops beating! Isn’t that wild? 🤯

Today I learned that Wrike's search Engine also works similarly to the Explorer allowing search parameters such as "xxx"

I learned about the Resources view in Wrike - it's one that I never noticed or used! We're going to use it to track effort for Job Roles when planning for upcoming marketing deliverables! 

I learned how to successfully create a MOGRT in After Effects that will make my video editing in Premiere Pro be more efficient.

I only recently learned mosquitos are more likely to bite people with type O blood! My wife must have this because she gets bit WAY more than me.

Today I learned that I love the new Wrike Filter options!

BUT for fun:

1. McDonald’s once made bubblegum-flavored broccoli.
2. Finland has more saunas than cars.
3. The longest time someone has held their breath underwater is 24 minutes and 37 seconds.
4. Frida Kahlo painted 55 self-portraits.
5. Avocados are actually fruits, not vegetables. 
6. NFL Super Bowl referees also get Super Bowl rings.
7. It’s illegal to own only one guinea pig in Switzerland.

Was just sharing interesting facts with a friend! Two that blow my mind:

1. Bananas and cucumbers are berries, but strawberries aren't. Crazy, right? 🤯 Berries have seeds on the inside.
2. Sharks have been around longer than trees. 🤯 Sharks 400 million years ago, trees roughly 350 million years ago.

Eric Fiero I've heard this before too, but can't make sense of why I get attacked with Type A+ blood! I live in Minnesota where the mosquito is the state bird and it's terrible being outside at night in the summer. I have to wear long pants and long sleeves, even if it's hot, just to avoid getting eaten alive. No fun!

Fun fact I learned ... my city ordinance only allows each residence to have a max of 5 animals. Guess I'm breaking the law with these cats! 🙀

Some additional business fun facts:

• Starbucks uses round tables specifically so customers won’t feel alone. The lack of edges makes it seem less like people are missing.
• Marvel Comics once owned the rights to the word “zombie.”
• The Coca-Cola logo can be recognized by 94 percent of the world’s population.
• Burt’s Bees is owned by The Clorox Company, as in Clorox bleach.
• Ben & Jerry’s was initially going to be a bagel company.

Vanilla originates from Mexico and is the only place where Vanilla Orchids do not have to be hand pollinated. There is a small, native bee that is the only insect that can pollinate a Vanilla Orchid. 

1 in 500 people has a third kidney!  This could be a partial (non-working) or fully functional kidney.  (And no, not from transplants)

I learned today that the Search feature in Wrike is incredibly more efficient than the feature in SharePoint. I very much appreciate all the updates Wrike has made in the last year to improve this function. 🤩

Since I'm a native North Dakotan and a die hard NDSU football 🏈 fan, here are some fun facts about the team:

• The Bison have won 18 national championships, 10 in Division I FCS and 8 in Division II, showcasing their long-standing success.
• NDSU is one of only six FCS programs to win titles in at least two consecutive seasons, and they hold the longest streak at five in a row (2011-2015). 
• The Bison once held the FCS record for consecutive wins, winning 33 straight from 2012-2014 and later extending that to 39 straight games. 
• The university's athletic teams were originally known as the "Aggies" but were changed to the "Bison" in 1922, a name chosen to represent strength and ferocity. 
• Over the years, Bison athletic teams also became known as the "Thundering Herd". 
• The official mascot, Thundar, was introduced in 1991, but a Bison mascot had been used at athletic events since the mid-1960s. 

Today I learned how to get a Pokemon game set up on a kid's Switch!

I'm learning a bit of the Portuguese language these days, and today I learned the word for the flu: "gripe" (gri·pi). To me, this sounded like the antiquated English term for the flu "the grip," which I'd learned by way of the song "Adelaide's Lament" from the musical Guys and Dolls. Upon some etymological research, all of these words stem from the French term for flu, "la grippe," which stems from the French word "gripper" which means "to seize." All that to say, the deadliness of the flu is what colored its term in the western peninsula of Europe! Super cool for a language nerd like me.

I learned that our Wrike setup had a common space that was just a dusty attic since a couple months after it was implemented (before my time). I've taken on some spring cleaning and will make it our user resource center!

Something random, the population of New Jersey has crested 9.5 million people — no wonder I've been starting to feel a bit enochlophobiac (fear of crowds)!

Jasmine stitch is considered one of the most difficult stitches in crochet. And I can't wait to give it a go...

I learned that the fake pockets on my pants were actually real pockets, just sewn closed. 

I've only had the pants for two years.

I learned that "Singish" is a creole tongue spoken in Singapore. Singlish is a blend of English with elements from various Asian languages such as Malay, Cantonese, Hokkien, Mandarin, Teochew, and Tamil.

I learned that if there are team members who continually ask questions that they could have answered themselves by doing the same Google search that I have to do, I can send them this handy dandy app https://letmegooglethat.com/

TIL that octopuses 🐙 have three hearts and their blood is blue! Two hearts pump blood to the gills, while the third pumps it to the rest of the body. And that blue color? It’s because their blood uses copper-based hemocyanin instead of iron-based hemoglobin. Wild, right?
