Default items opened in project/folder to custom item type rather than generic task

I would like to default new items that are opened in a project or folder to a custom item type rather than the generic task. For example, I have projects X, Y, and Z and custom item types 1, 2, and 3 already created, and I would like to configure settings that say that when someone opens an item in project X that it defaults to custom item 1, project Y to custom item 2, and project Z to custom item 3. Is this possible, and if so, how do I set that up?
As of this moment, if I create a new item in project X, for example, it defaults to the generic Wrike task, and I have to actively select custom item 1. I would like to cut out the human step of having to remember to select the appropriate custom item for the given project and/or someone having to come behind and convert generic tasks to the appropriate custom item. I think is not possibile with actual automation engine. I hope in future we can do this kind of automations.
However, you can create a form, with select populating the custom fields you need, but the user must necessarily enter it by hand or select it from a drop-down menu.
I don't know if is applicable to your needs.
