[From Wrike] How to create color-coded indicators ๐ŸŽจ

Pinned Featured
Hi, Iโ€™m Mobeen from the Wrike Professional Services team and today Iโ€™d like to show you how to build color-coded indicators in Wrike Analyze.
ย
What is a color-coded indicator?
ย
A color-coded indicator can help you make your analytics board more eye-catching by quickly identifying key metrics based on different ranges. You can set solid colors or conditional ranges to identify results categorized in different color ranges. The most common use case is setting red, amber, and green colors for analyzing the health of your results.
ย
How to use color-coded indicators?
ย
If you already have an indicator widget, you can simply choose the value on your left-hand panel, and click on the color box, as shown below:
ย ย
ย
Once you have that, you can either select a single color or switch over to conditional coloring.
Using conditional coloring, you can set different ranges of colors. These ranges can be based on fixed values and additional formulas can also be set.
ย ย
ย
In my example above, the final output will appear as red, amber, or green based on the three ranges I have chosen. Here is a sample of the output:
ย ย
ย
Letโ€™s dive deeper into it using an example. I would like to calculate a percentage of my completed tasks over my total task count and have them color-coded. First, Iโ€™ll need to build a formula for calculating the percentage. Here is my formula and the final output:
ย ย
ย
You might have noticed that my formula is a simple fraction, but my final output is shown in a percentage. That is done by changing my value type to โ€œPercentโ€ which can also be found in the value settings right next to the color box. This is important to know because to set accurate color ranges I need to use the result of my formula, not the final output of my indicator. For example, if I see 20% as my output the result of my formula is 0.2. Iโ€™d like to set the color ranges as below:
Red = Less than 50%
Amber = Between 50% and 75%
Green = Greater than 75%
ย
To apply these ranges, I need to use the formula results corresponding to the above-mentioned color ranges. So, 50% becomes 0.5 and 75% becomes 0.75. I can use these values to add to my color ranges:
ย ย
ย
Additionally, if you would like to show these ranges on the indicator, we can also switch our indicator type (which can be found in the design settings) to a gauge and use skin type 2. This allows seeing a more enhanced version of the color-coded indicator with different ranges visible. Here is how it looks:
ย ย
I hope this was helpful, can you think of any other use cases this can be applied to? Be sure to let me know in the comments below. You can also use this technique in other widgets such as a column chart or bar chart. Hopefully this brings a pop of colour to your analytics boards! ๐ŸŽจ

I would love to be able to color code at the user level. Milestone color codes would be super helpful.ย

Any updates on being able to pick different colors for different milestone in the same calendar view? Right now you can only pick one color making all milestones look exactly the same.ย

Hi Jenn Kieke, thank you for your comment. Since the items are color-coded based on their status in the Calendar view, could it be an option for you to create a custom status named "Milestone" or similar to specify a color or different colors for this kind of item?

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Hello everyone!

Is there a way to change the font color? Sometimes, I use a color that makes the black font hard to see
