What is AI Subtask Creation?
This is a new experimental feature based on natural language processing that allows you to easily create subtasks from your taskโs description.ย
With AI Subtask Creation, you can quickly convert your meeting notes, documents, tables, or checklists into subtasks of your current task. Simply highlight the relevant text in the task description to see two new buttons:
1) The first button enables simple subtask creation from each line of text. It can be useful for structured text, like checklists, meeting notes, etc. After creating subtasks, the corresponding text in the description will be updated with permalinks to the subtasks created.
2) The second new button is for AI subtask creation. It uses machine learning algorithms to analyze the highlighted text and finds only actionable items. It works with unstructured text in the English language and identifies sentences that look like tasks, based on certain criteria. You can use it for emails, messages, documents, or slides. You can highlight a full task description or choose only a certain part of the text to help the algorithm. Please note that some more complicated sentences may not be recognized.ย
The team plans to improve this functionality and introduce more smart features that will help you easily create and complete tasks.ย

I tried the feature with a table - need improvement here also! It doesn't create a task out of each row, as I'd suggest, but out of each single cell. Not usable at all. ๐คทโ๏ธ

Tuomo Suominen Thanks for your questions! The engine needs time to create subtasks and send info about this operation to the browser, so it can take some time. As for your second question, it's not currently supported, but the team appreciates the suggestion! They have many plans for enhancing this feature ๐

Hi Lisa!
I think Tuomo's question is not an issue of time. I figured out the same problem. After creating the AI subtasks, I manually added an anditional subtask. This one appered immediately in the left tree, the ones created with AI didn't. But they were alredy shown in the subtasks-aerea of the parent task (List view).
Youโre right Florian, I waited for several minutes for something to happen with the links in the Description area. Nothing happened until I clicked one of those links. Only then did the actual subtasks materialize in the List viewโs left hand hand pane.
Are there any other languages planned for AI Subtask Creation? The function could become interesting for us if the AI works with German.
Lisa suggestion: It would be useful to add this feature to comments. We often get feedback in comments that need to be converted into tasks/subtasks.ย
I would also like to try it out. I do this regularly in a very manual way right now for meetings and 1-1s
