Project Status Naming
We have had "new" jobs be our only status for jobs that have come in, but have not started yet. My supervisor would like "new" jobs to be truly new, so I am going to automate "new" to another status after 7 calendar days. How do you all commonly refer to projects that are not new, but not yet started? Some things I've seen:
"Not Started"
"Waiting to Start"
"In Queue"
This phase of a project's status can seem kind of "negative" if not labeled properly. "Not started" and "Waiting to Start" seem to have a connotation that our group is responsible for delaying the project in some way? I kind of lean toward "In Queue" so far, but wondered what others are using to describe this phase state :)
Thanks!
Hi,
Wrike typical in projects would be "Backlog". We also use the status "Plan" to say that we will plan it soon (you can also read it as request to plan it).
Thanks for the feedback, Sven!
We use two additional statuses prior to "In progress": "Assigned" and "Accepted".
If a task was approved to be assigned to the right employee by the responsible manager, he changes the status to "Assigned". If the assignee had a look at this task and didn't reject it, he changes the status to "Accepted". So anyone can see, the assigne himself took notice of this task, regardless of any timeline.
If a task remains in a status prior to "Accepted", automation could raise a notification to the creator after some days.
Thanks, Florian! That sounds like a great process. We are such a small team that we can kind of skip those steps for the most part because it's almost already known by the time it goes into Wrike. Although, I do wish we could "reject" some things! Ha :)
we like using folders within folders. for example, we utilize the Backlog folder for all new projects. once the project has been prioritized and built we move it into the Upcoming Work folder (which is housed in the Backlog folder).
after the team reviews and aligns on the projects dates/durations/etc. it then moves into a new folder, Active Work. from there we monitor the project status (not started, in progress, ready for review, completed). until the project is moved into the Active Work folder, the status is Not Started.
