Change owners on tasks or projects or assign additional temporary owners.

It is an urgent and essential requirement to be able to change owners on tasks or projects or assign additional temporary owners. Even better would be an out-of-office deferment to another user, making them the owner of all your work until you switch it off.

As the name implies, this is so that when a user with an active workload is out-of-office or otherwise unavailable (sick/maternity/annual leave) their work can continue to be actioned as usual without interim workflow changes affecting multiple people. Currently, to do this everyone associated with the task must remember to @ the person covering in comments, add them as an assignee or assign them manually as a reviewer, which is unwieldy and open to many human errors.

Hi Richard McIlrath, thank you for posting this suggestion!

I think that Wrike's Automation and the recently released custom field trigger in it can help here. You could create an additional custom field (for example, checkbox-type) for changing the project owner/task assignee. When someone has an active project, and they are also planning some PTO/maternity leave etc, they could check this custom field, which would trigger the changing of the project owner:

Please let me know if that could help in your case!

Lisa, has a better solution been released for individuals that go on temporary leave like maternity or paternity leave? Maybe some sort of other automation that doesn't require a creation of a new custom field?

Nope! And the solution given is obviously not solid, relying on the owner assigning to someone else which is NOT transferring of ownership and does NOT allow for illness where the owner cannot tick the box as they are off sick.

Basic requirements missed as the actual reality of a working business is not understood sadly.

Hey folks!

Our Support agent has suggested a couple of options in a private ticket - creating a specific status for "Owner change" and then creating an automation rule that would apply to tasks/projects where this status has been applied, or creating a dashboard/report that would use this status as a filter.

Thanks, Lisa. These options will suffice but would be great if this could be a more automated functionality considered for the future for situations for long term leaves.
