High CPU usage on macOS (both web and app)
Hi,
Some colleagues and I are experiencing very high CPU usage (100% constant, even when idle) when using Wrike. We tested Safari, Chrome and the latest version of the standalone app. This is also the case when Wrike or the browser are in the background (after switching to other windows), and does not seem to depend on the content being displayed (even on a single task open with no data in it triggers extremely high CPU usage).
As for the actual process responsible for this (according to activity monitor):
- Wrike Helper (Renderer) when using the app
- Google Chrome Helper (Renderer) when using the web version on Chrome
- https://www.wrike.com when using the web version on Safari (a bit easier on the CPU, but still abnormally high when idle)
The only solutions we found are:
1) Disabling background sync in Chrome (site settings for wrike.com) and switch to other tabs when not actively using Wrike
2) Minimizing the desktop app when not in use
Of course this isn't ideal...
I couldn't find any information about this issue online. Does anyone experience this and/or found a better fix?
Thank you in advance!
Simone
I am experiencing this issue as well, and it seems to have just started in the last few days. Over 100% CPU usage for Wrike Helper (Renderer), with a Process running for each tab I have open (so right now I have five "Wrike Helper (Renderer)" processes each taking over 100% CPU somehow). I will be submitting a ticket but I'm happy to know it's not just me!
My colleagues and I have the same issue with the browser and desktop app.
I noticed that the CPU usage goes away when on the Inbox page when no task is open but comes back as soon as I open a project or folder.
You can also open tasks in separate windows using the "Open in a new window" button in the desktop app without the CPU overhead. Full screen mode doesn't have the same benefit though.
So now I always return to the Inbox page and opens tasks I need to keep open in new windows using the desktop app.

Hi, I am having the same issues since a couple of days with no difference when using Chrome or the App (and no difference on a Mac or windows machine). The Inbox "trick" works on my system as well but that's not an ideal situation for my work with multiple projects. Hoping for a solution in near future.
Hi Thilo Christ, thanks for letting us know.
I've raised a Support ticket now for you also, our team will be in touch soon to help 👍
