My to-do list

Can the My to-do list also include the overall project name in which the tasks roll up to? In my organization set up, we could have multiple projects occurring in which the task names are the same. This makes the My to-do almost unworkable unless we were able to also include project names within this section while each tasks can be shown under/rolled up into the project name

Hi Jordon Miller, welcome to the forums! 🙂

Currently, My to-do list shows the projects' name:

Or did you mean something different? Sorry if I misunderstood 😇

Can they rollup to the project name to look like below? This screenshot was done by manually creating tasks but when a project is created, the tasks beneath it just become listed

Hi Jordon Miller, thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the late reply!

I've checked with the Product team - My to-do is designed to show all tasks and subtasks assigned to you, and it also shows project and folder tags for easier navigation, but it doesn't include projects with tasks rolled up under it. The team doesn't have it in their plans to add this functionality, but there are other ways to achieve it: you can tag certain projects with your Personal space and use filters to only see the tasks assigned to you there.

Hi Lisa, I might be having a similar issue - how can I get project names to show up for tasks that are within a folder inside a project?

The structure here is:
Test Project [project]
  - This task is within a project [task]
  - General [folder]
      - This task is within a folder, within a project [task]

All we'd love is for an additional tag to show up with project name

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam Mitchell, thank you for sharing this question with us. In this case, you'd need to tag/add all the relevant projects/folders to the location field of the task so that they will be displayed in the list:

Please, let us know if you need further assistance 🙂

Thanks @..., that's very helpful - is there a way to automate this process on Task creation (or change a setting somewhere)? We have many tasks that are created during a project and it would be tedious to change the location on all of them

Hey Adam Mitchell, let me jump in for Juan here 👋 You can mass select and edit tasks in My to do. The option to "Move to" will change the current folder/project, and the "Add to" option will add a new project/folder to the task:

I'm having the same type of issue.  For tasks I create and assign to me, I see the task name and the project it's related to, on 2 separate lines.  However, I have a peer who assigns tasks to his team and all they see is the task name.  They do not see the project that the task is associated to.  What change needs to be made so the task assignee can see which project the tasks is associated to?  My peer and I have Regular User accounts.  The team member that the task is being assigned to has a Collaborator license.  I also confirmed the settings below are the same on all of our accounts.

Hi @..., welcome to the Community 👋

Could you please check with your teammates if they have access to the parent project? They may not see the tag because the project is not shared with them.

I made sure the project was shared with this individual, but that didn't seem to help.

I have the same problem. We manage projects for numerous different customers. The projects and project steps for these customers often have the same name. Unfortunately, you cannot see in the to-do list which customer and/or project the task belongs to. Even if you open the task, you cannot assign it.
It would therefore be very important for us to be able to display at least the space in the My To-do list. This way we at least know which customer the task belongs to.

Hi! Was there any resolution to the above issue? I see a list of assorted tasks but not the project they come from unless I click into the task individually. If there was the ability to select the Project Title to include in the table set up it would be ideal.

Hi Robyn Cosgrove and everyone!

It's now possible to enable the Location field in My to-do - that will show you which project or folder the task belongs to:

I hope this is helpful!

Lisa after toggling on the location field, is there a way to save that setting or make it your default? This is a very key field and our team finds it very odd/frustrating to have to toggle it on every time My To-Do is used.

On the mobile version, there’s no location field so I have no idea what project my tasks are a part of. Is there a better way to organize our projects?
