[Status: Not planned] Calendar View Based On Custom Date Field

In Calendars object, it would be great to create a calendar that displays tasks based on a custom date field (rather than current restrictions requiring display by Full Duration or End Date).

Alternatively, in Reports object, perhaps enable a calendar view of filtered tasks/projects (rather than current restrictions requiring a table view).

Use Case:
Using a "Live Date" custom date field which identifies when something is published/active in market. This could be used internally with marketing teams, sales teams, and leadership so they can see what's active/in market now and in the future, while still allowing use of Start/End Dates for production purposes.

Us too. Our use case is scheduling potential projects. We have a workflow for potential new projects, each project is a task. The due date represents the decision date for whether we take on the project.

At the same time, we need to manage the likely schedules for these new projects, so we don't double-book. We have a custom date field on the potential new project, "Estimated Go-live." I would like to display these tasks as a calendar layer, based on "Estimated Go-live." This would pair beautifully with my existing calendar layer for my in-progress projects.

I am working in marketing with a lot of in-house production. Content producers must be able to see deadlines and production periods in their calendar, and project managers and planners must be able to see publishing periods in their calendar. Having to use sub tasks to do so just isn't good enough!

I am obviously not the only one who needs this functionality. Maybe now is the time to prioritize it?

I also wanted to chime in and add why using sub-tasks is inefficient for us as a workaround. We use the request forms to get people to give us crucial information, which includes several dates which we use custom fields for. We do this in the request form to make it easier for the user to provide all the info we need in that one step and reduce the need for them to have to remember other steps after they submit the form. So if we want those dates to show up in the calendar, it means a double input, whether it's by the same person who put in the request, or by two different people. As a result, we're not using the calendar as much as we'd like to as we have way too many tasks with custom date fields.

Hmm, not sure my comment will make any difference after 4 years, I can't believe this wasn't included in the new views rolled out.

Such a shame.

This is suuuper important for our team.  We have so many marketing needs and need to track everyting in a marketing calendar for leadership, but are unable to kick off internal teams using these tasks without the production timeline impacting what dates are shown on the live-in market marketing calendar.
