Ability to filter via text for calendars
In the same way you can create Dashboard Widgets by filtering for text - I'd love to be able to create calendars based on text searches!

I completely agree with this!! The Dashboard is awesome, but the Calendar is so much more visual. We would benefit from this feature being bridged over the Calendars. Thank you :)
Hey guys, thanks for sharing your ideas here!
I wonder how that can be used - could you please explain in more detail?
Thanks!

To add more detail: Some of our users build dashboard widgets based on text search of specifics tasks they do for every project -- so they can see all of their "Send First Proofs" tasks (for example) lined up by due date. We'd like to be able to do the same thing on a calendar view -- so they can view all of their "Send First Proofs" tasks on a calendar.
Right now we have text filter ability to add widgets to a dashboard by creating the list view with the text, clicking the 3 dots in the top right, and clicking "Add to Dashboard". Can you also add "Create a Calendar" to this menu?
Ideally - the text filter would be improved altogether - for dashboards and calendars. A section in the filter list to add text and condition with "contains", "starts with", "ends with", etc on the task title. (The current text filter for dashboards isn't ideal since you can't edit the widget after it's created - you have to create a new one.)
Thanks a lot for sharing more details, Karina Fluker! It really helps understand better! The feedback is already passed on to the team, and I'll let you know when I have any updates! 🙂

Lisa, I see several topics on the need for text filtering. I think now the only option is the Search field, or is it? I cannot reproduce the solution that Karina Fluker has found for dashboards.
Hi Karen Reijneveld - You can create custom dashboard widgets using the search field first, then creating the dashboard from the List View.
If you want to limit it to only look in a specific folder, select the folder first, then type your phrase in the search field in "quotes" -- this will allow you to check a box to only search in the folder you've selected (unfortunately, you can only select 1 specific folder and subfolders, not multiple.) If you want the widget to include a few phrases, you can separate them with commas in the search bar: "phrase 1", "phrase 2", etc.
Then follow the directions here under "Create Custom Widgets from List View" to filter things further and add to a dashboard.

One big downside to this method of creating widgets: you can't edit the widget on the dashboard once you've created it (since the widget editor doesn't include a text search filter option.) So - if you want to make changes, you have to create a new widget and delete the old one. The easiest way to do this is to open the existing widget in List View, then make your changes (since it will give you a helpful starting point.)
Hope that helps!
Thanks, Karina Fluker. I see this only works for tasks. Is something similar possible for projects? Because I see those in the search results, but they do not appear in list view, nor in the dashboard.
Karen Reijneveld - Unfortunately, no. Not that's I've figured out anyway.
I know this post was last updated around a year ago, but I have to agree that a text filter for calendars would be immensely helpful! Or if that is too complicated, at least adding the ability to filter based on custom fields. Either way to filter based on text/tags would really help out when it comes to organizing smart layers on calendars.
Hi Shawn Flanagan, thank you for your feedback, I've shared it with our Product team 😊
