Dear Wrike: Please Make Subtasks a Part of the Free Version
Hey readers,
Before I begin this post I want to mention one thing: I love Wrike.
My name's Zack and I'm both a paid & a free wrike user.
I have my own account for my freelancing career and a couple of outsourcers I work with sometimes, AND I work for a Marketing Agency and completely built out our infrastructure.
While the free version of Wrike is technically "enough to do normal projects" in, it's missing some major basic features of basically every top quality Todo/Project Management Software tends to contain.
Example competitors include:
Google Keep:
Asana:
Even monday.com:
Now, I get it. You guys MAINLY go after Enterprise Clients.
But even with upcoming freelancers and business owners, would you want them to get used to and be loyal and really understand your platform, if anything, just to be able to recommend your brand because of the amazing experience they've been having on it?
For example, PROJECTS DO NOT REPLACE BEING ABLE TO CREATE SUBTASKS.
After you complete a project, it just sits there. It can say "Completed", but it doesn't leave! It just further creates clutter on the workspace. And you can't Archive a project, unless you do the duct tape & fishing wire work around of creating an "Archive Folder"... which is just more space being taken up and is a feature that's on pretty much every other part of Wrike (folders, tasks, updates, etc.).
If you could at least include this feature, that would be fine. However, this is not there.
Wrike is an AMAZING (damn near perfect) tool for creating and organizing goals, projects, & strategies to make sure things are clear.
I'm not requesting that the advanced reporting, time tracking, etc, (all of which are SUPER useful) be on the free version, but the most BASIC functionalities that are on literally every platform I believe would be REALLY helpful.
I mean, everyone who uses Wrike wants to use the Business & Enterprise Solutions.
Why not help the people who are working on growing their business to be able to use the higher level softwares & services do so by using your amazing service with Industry Standard Functionality that you guys do so much better?
Let them (us, me included) be your Ambassadors, show what Wrike is capable of & grow stronger in scaling our companies.
Don't annoy people off of the platform and give Silver instead of Gold or Platinum expectations.
I hope this can get enough of response to do a really simple setting change to add this feature to the version to help budding freelancers, agencies, & teams grow to scale their businesses and use Wrikes more advanced features. Thank you.
Hi Zack Plauche, thank you so much for your kind words and for your feedback!

Hello! Any update on this? I'm a former professional user and just signed up for the free version, but I'm afraid I can't use it because I can't add subtasks. Thank you.
Same sentiments here, I feel like the project manager is kind of useless without the ability t add sub-tasks.
Hi Sherita Smith, Kitan Lawson, welcome to the Community! 🙂 The team considers this suggestion and they have plans to enhance our Free plan. Also, please let me know if you'd like our team to reach out to you for an interview that will help the team to plan enhancements for this plan.

Hi - and thanks for the attention to this - other than the name, Wrike is by far the best thing out there and am hoping to get my team to adopt -
But in the meantime, according to:
https://www.wrike.com/blog/new-wrike-free-plan/
Subtasks have ben added to the free version - but I don't see them there - Has it not been implemented yet or am I missing something?
Hi Mathew Jacobson, replied to you about this here 👍

Hi,
Wrike has been great for managing my small business and team of three. However, allowing status bar customization in the free version would significantly improve workflow tracking. It’s a helpful tool, but this feature would make it even better!
