Desktop App reloads automatically and kicks you out of your view

I'm on PC and every 5 minutes or so the desktop app does a complete refresh which closes any tabs/views you had open and resets your view to whatever it was when you initially opened the app.  Also causes the app icon to blink orange on your taskbar.

Ideally the app could refresh data in the background without disrupting the user's work.
