GET all tasks and subtasks on a project

I'm trying to get all the tasks and subtasks on a particular project using a GET request in this format:

https://www.wrike.com/api/v4/folders/{folderId}/tasks?descendants=true

where {folderId} is the folder ID of the project.

It's only pulling the top-level tasks and not the subtasks. I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I can't seem to find what it is. What do I need to do to get all the subtasks?

Thanks for the help.

The solution is to use

https://www.wrike.com/api/v4/folders/{folderId}/tasks?subTasks=true

What is the recommended solution for this?

Hi Jim Bradley, welcome to the Community!

Our Advanced Support recommends to include optional parameter "subTasks=true" to your API Tasks query to include Subtasks to the response. You can check the full list of available parameters at https://developers.wrike.com/documentation/api/methods/query-tasks

Hope this helps!

Hi Lisa,

Are there any resources showing these 'optional parameters'? The methods section of the API docs don't even cover the parameter you mentioned.

Thanks!

Daniel

Hi Daniel Montoya,

Thank you for your question!

All of the available parameters can be found in our Developers Portal. The subTasks parameter can be found with the other task parameters here: https://developers.wrike.com/api/v4/tasks/

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and have a productive day 😃

Does this mean that there's no way to get information about just the subtasks of one task? or just a single known subtask by ID?

You've got to go back up to the parent folder, then request its content with subtasks included and extract the information you need from that?

I also need to get a list with all of the subtasks, because I need to calculate the Effort of a supertasks, with the roll-up of the effort of the subtasks (this can be done with formula custom fields, but in this case the data pulled to the analytics is incorrect because analytics do not support formula custom fields)

I have been trying to build the automation in Workato but havenot been able to make it work. Can Wrike or someone from the community provide clear guidance on this, or share the workato recipe ?
