Red Dot - Green Dot - Yellow Dot Symbols in Custom Fields

My team has a "Red Dot, Green Dot, Yellow Dot" system for marking the status of a project "without words". We would love to see a symbol of some kind worked into the Custom Field options. Dots, Stop-and-Go Lights, or Green Checkmark, Red X, or Yellow Line - something with symbols.
