[Status: Backburner ⏳] Recurring tasks - Blueprints
Hello,
It would be usefull to be able to create a reccurent task directly in a blueprint, with the same options as in the "normal" projects/tasks.
Thanks a lot,
PH L.

Upvoting. This could be a solution to recurring subtasks if able to create recurring Blueprints and key to my workflow. We also have multiple processes across our team that recur regularly that I suppose could be recurring tasks in individual project, but for the sake of efficiency, we don't want to create a project for things that could be tasks (don't want a Cadillac when you simply need a Honda Fit) when you just Breaking out each subtask would make each day's task list incredibly overwhelming based on the workload and extensive areas of work team members accomplish, in general.
Use case example for me: Daily Launchpad Task, broken down into multiple subtasks to keep action items grouped + tidy to navigate through. I do not want to have to create a Daily Launchpad Project to have the subtasks recur in a "tagged location" and have 6+ recurring tasks every day to start the day when I could have them as recurring subtasks under one parent task that groups them together in my to-do or dashboards. That does NOT make sense for a project or folder scale. And I don't think I'm alone in this use case.
The workaround I figured out to recreate a task from Blueprint in a specific folder whenever an item is created (aka a whole folder needed to recreate an item with subtasks) is not fully functional because you cannot recur to a flexible date from the Blueprint and still have to assign it manually (aka automation rules do not allow me to "assign item created to tomorrow" alongside assigning to me and keeping it in the proper location. I have also tried to create a Dashboard widget that shows all created from blueprint items so I can assign the recurring blueprint with subtasks each day, but lack of widget filtering options and lack of customization of the "My Backlog" widget cannot accomplish this for my use case without either showing duplicates, or millions of things I do not need. Seems like a basic function to have recurring subtasks, whether accomplished through creating an entirely new item from Blueprints via an Automation Rule OR Making a task recurrent. It's disappointing that it's still on the backburner after 4 years.
The workaround of having to end a recurrence, edit a checklist within the description field while not a recurring task since checklist is not supported in "edit recurrence", and then recreate the recurrence is such an extensive and common time suck. Feels like all Wrike has done for now is create work around work when trying to make simple recurrences, and honestly has halted my department's adoption because everything is so difficult to accomplish simple things. I've been posting on not scheduled/backburner tasks for a good while on the Community Forum. I'm probably going to go back to my own solution rather than using work-provided Wrike at this point because the team will not use it to collaborate, so it feels pointless to curate for my own individual work.
We appreciate your detailed feedback Sarah Flagg, thank you for sharing it! I'll now send it to the team that owns blueprints 👍

I'd like to add my voice to this request - being able to deploy a blueprint as a recurring task would be incredibly helpful for us. Please can you remind the development team of the obvious interest in this feature?

Any update on this? Looks like it's been discussed for 4 years, but I don't see that it's been implemented yet. Is implementation likely?

Wow, it’s almost six years since the original post!
I agree with other posters that this would be a value-add to the Wrike platform in terms of ease of use of Blueprints, but I am extremely concerned that it is taking so long to either say, "It's in our backlog, and we're working on it", "Sorry, this isn't a priority for us", or "Here's an alternative way of doing this using Blueprints".
Up vote!!!! This is critical for our setup!!
