Reporting Owner vs. Author

When creating reports you can group by "Owner" of a project only when the report type is "Projects". When the report type is "Tasks" you can't group by the "Owner", your option is "Author". 

We like to see our report like:

Owner > Project > Tasks

Currently you can only see the report like: 

Author > Project > Tasks

The problem with this is that the person that opens up the project sometimes is not the one that ends up owning it through to completion thus our reports can begin to look weird.

Is there a way that you can organize a report by "Owner" in the "tasks reporting type" instead of by "Author"?
