[Status: Launched! ๐Ÿš€] Table View shows sub-tasks of filtered parent tasks at wrong level

My co-workers and I noticed an issue with how the Table view (and New Table view from Labs) display sub-tasks when the parent task has been filtered out.

To illustrate, create a folder inside another and a task and sub-task in the inner folder and mark the parent task as complete (leave the sub-task active):

ย
If you look at Folder Level 1 with the normal "all active" filter...
  • in the old table view, the Sub-Task is displayed as a sibling of Folder Level 2 instead of its child.
  • in the new table view, the Sub-Task is displayed as a sibling of Folder Level 1 instead of the child of Folder Level 2.

Old Table View:

New Table View:

While this was illustrated with status differences and the "all active" filter, other differences and their filters do the same thing.

Both table views should show the Sub-Task as a child of Folder Level 2 (as the Gantt Chart does).

I have the same problem. This is very frustrating for me as the basic thing I'd like to see in all views is that the tasks associated with a given project are collected under that project. I often filter by deadlines and the subtask usually has a nearer term deadline than the parent task. Orphaning these tasks negates the usefulness of the table for looking at deadlines which are a core function of task management.ย

Hey everyone,

This has been fixed in a recent release called "Ghost Tasks". You can now use the filters in Table View to hide parent tasks that should be filtered out because they do not meet the criteria of the Table you have constructed. That's why I'm changing the status of this thread to "Launched"!

Thank you for all of your feedback ๐Ÿ˜Š
