Add a "Standard" filter "All Open" for all non closed tasks

 Hi Guys,

As a Project Manager, I would like to monitor my project, and especially all remaining open tasks in all the different views (List, Gantt, etc..) in an easy way.

Currently:

  • if I select "Active Tasks", I am missing the on hold tasks - while those on hold tasks remain to be done.
  • if I select "on Hold", I am simply missing all the open tasks.

the only remaining option is

  • to remove the filters, but then views are saturated with completed and cancelled tasks, so as a project manager, it does not help me to focus on remaining task to be done.
  • or to each time have to go through the custom filtering option, but to loose quite some time to tick all boxing.

As a Project Manager, I would like to have an additional standard filtering option "All Open" tasks, that would show all tasks except the one really closed, in order to be able to quickly scan and monitor all the job remaining to be done.

This would really help us a lot

thanks  much

Julien

Hi Julien, sorry for the delay getting back here. Has the New Table View helped with this now considering you can filter by multiple statuses and custom statuses? Meaning you can select Active and On Hold to see only these task in Gantt?

If so, I'd like to close this post and take it off the Product team's review. Thanks 🙂

Hi Stephen,

thanks for reaching out.

Actually, I would prefer to keep this ticket open. While the "custom" filter option always have been here to let do that adjustment,

it really strucks me to be able to customize filters option each time I want to see all my Open tasks

Currently:

  • if I select "Active Tasks", I am missing the on hold tasks - while those on hold tasks remain to be done.
  • if I select "on Hold", I am simply missing all the open tasks.
  •

So basically, without using custom filter - which are still more painful that using the default option, you never have an exhaustive view of all tasks remaining to be done - in short "Open Task"

A quick win and small dev would really be as simple a default filter "All open tasks" - that would combine ALL tasks who are not closed.

thanks for caring

Julien

Hey Julien,

I've been following this thread and to my view, with the change they made, it actually does make what you're requesting possible now.

Now when you click the filter icon and it brings up the filter options, there are check-marks on the boxes rather than it being a modal selection. You can select New, In Progress, and On Hold and have them all show up simultaneously.

Your suggestion was good, and I'm grateful for the new feature too! Hope this update solves it for you.

Hi guys,

Really thanks for caring, really, don't get me wrong here: I am not stuck.

I just feel painful as a PM to do custom filter to "Just see all open task" at once.

our job is to follow what remain to be done, and while i feel the option to zoom on active tasks or zoom on blocked tasks are really valuable options, I would love to get the default option to be able to look at all open tasks from a standard - and not customized - perspective.

:)

cheers
