Folllowing List for Post: suggestion for improvement - mobile app
[this list is visible for admins and agents only]
Hi Roger, the aim of the mobile app is to provide functionality that you can use quickly while on the move. We're constantly making enhancements and increasing the features available on mobile as we understand that more and more people want to use Wrike on mobile more often. This feedback is very valuable for our Product Team responsible as it tells us how people would like to use Wrike while mobile so thank you for sharing this here 👍
Just to add a little hack here 😇
You can always log in via your mobile browser and request the 'Desktop' view from your browser's options (available for some mobile browsers like Chrome). You might need to do this incognito so the browser doesn't revert to the app automatically. However, this is not the way we recommend using Wrike for mobile as we don't support this view in mobile. And personally, I find it difficult to navigate the forced desktop version on such a small screen.
Thank you for your comment, Stephen, and your invitation to provide feedback. My first impression in reading what you wrote above is that the aim you describe might be off: " the aim of the mobile app is to provide functionality that you can use quickly while on the move." First, if you have the mindset that it has to be quick, you're going to start to think I don't want to do real work. Or like I just need to "check" or "look." That's not true. Although I might be checking for 5 min while in a doctor's waiting room, what feels gratifying about using the program is if I can actually get real work done. Seeing things, but not being able to manipulate them is a tease. It's always going to happen that when I look at our projects, assignments, and timelines that I'm going to see things that need to be changed, added, etc. And if I notice something that I know I can easily change on a desktop, but I can't do it on my phone or ipad, it's actually MORE frustrating than if I had never seen it at all. Because now I have one more open loop than I started with...instead of walking into the doctor appointment with the feeling of, "I'm so glad I had that 5 min in Wrike, I just got something really important done."
What I'm saying above is especially true for the iPad. My iPad Pro is faster and, in some cases, larger than many people's laptops. It's maddening when a developer thinks my mobile device is a "toy" or "on the go" platform. It's a computer. I interact with it in a different way because it don' have a mouse, but in every other way, you have to think of it as a COMPUTER WITH A TOUCH OPERATING SYSTEM not "MOBILE DEVICE."
That would be my most important bit of feedback and advice. Again, thanks so much for the work you're doing. And I wanted to acknowledge the incredibly important step forward you all took in adding the ability to add a project. Without that, it was a non-starter to use the mobile version. That moves it into the realm of possibilities! Thanks again.
@Tony, oh my, I'm not sure how this comment slipped by me, apologies!
Rest assured we're taking mobile advancements at Wrike very seriously. We have dedicated Product Teams for both Android and iOS. I didn't mean to insinuate that it's less effective in being productive or getting work done in my wording above 😇
I meant in the last number of years everyone is identifying the true value of their mobile device as a place to actually get their work done, not just to communicate - I totally agree, I use Wrike for Android daily.
The team are watching mobile trends closely, and the changes in the advancements and capabilities of mobile devices. The dedicated mobile teams are constantly testing and tweaking the apps to ensure they're being developed with the goal of having the like-for-like capacity with the desktop and browser versions. Granted, this takes time as the user interaction with this device can differ in both capabilities and when and how we want to use our mobile device for these purposes. So feedback on the Community about this is paramount to the product team, so thanks for posting here.
If you're not already, I recommend following the Weekly Release Notes here so you'll be notified of new releases and enhancements on a weekly basis so you're up to date on all developments. Thanks for posting (& sorry again for the delay getting back) 👍
Thanks @Stephen. Appreciate your response. Thanks for affirming the team's commitment to iOS. We need things like Kanban setting default view. A lot of these basics. The focus has understandably been on checking things off and viewing, but I appreciate that you're now getting around to creating---with the addition of adding projects being a good example. Thanks.
I'm also concerned by the lack of functionality in Wrike for iOS and I too use an iPad Pro. I'm a VP of Marketing and PR, currently assessing different project management tools to purchase for myself and my team. The limited functionality of the iOS app may be a deal-breaker for me... especially since I can't draw on images in review with the Apple Pencil (which I cannot do with the web version either). This is a function I have with Asana currently and I don't think I can live without it. Mobile development should be your first priority these days!!
