Cleanup Existing Custom Widgets
I've been playing with custom widgets on dashboards for over a year now and have accumulated a VERY long list of "Existing Widgets". My issues are: now I have too many, there are a lot with the same name (used on different dashboards that return different information), and I know some simply aren't used anymore but was a result of me taking multiple tries to create the correct widget.
So my question is: how do I clean this up? Is there a way to see what dashboards each custom widget is used on? Is there a way to purge all unused custom widgets?
I need a way to clean this up... selecting existing custom widgets has become an unusable feature. It's now easier to just create new ones for our dashboards (even though a valid one may already exist). This obviously makes my original problem worse!
Thanks for the help!
Hi Matthew! Glad to hear you've been playing with Dashboards. You can remove widgets from Dashboards, but can't delete them completely. I'm moving this to the Product Feedback section so that others can +1 it and we can more easily share it with our Product Team.
One quick note, something you can do is edit existing widgets, so you can make any widget that you no longer want into a different widget. I know that doesn't solve your problem, just mentioning it in case it does help while we share this with the team.

Would love to be able to remove the duplicate widgets. Didn't realize the system keeps creating them each time.
Yes, very surprising that you wouldn't actually be able to delete widgets; which you can easily create too many of???
Hi Stephanie,
I feel like this issue got some attention recently as it seems I can't access an "existing widgets" list at all now. The only thing I can do is copy widgets from one Dashboard to another. This is problem for what I'm trying to do now, which is helping people create their own dashboards. My hope was to name the widgets something particular and have them just pick them from the list... which is now gone. :(
My next best option is create one giant dashboard and have them copy the widgets they like to their own dashboards. This is undesirable as it chews up a dashboard of mine (only 15 allowed) but I can't see another way around now that the existing widgets list is gone.
Am I wrong here... maybe I'm just not seeing it anymore! :S
Thanks!
Also, it would seem the Copy Widget feature does not allow a copy to the same dashboard... effectively ruling out quickly duplicating widgets and editing on the same dashboard.
I don't see an answer here...anyone?
