Comment filters for dashboards to help catch "lost" tasks
It would be really helpful to have a few comment filters that we could use in dashboard widgets to capture tasks that have fallen off of peoples' plates:
- Comments that haven't been responded to in X days
- Comments that do not contain an "@ mention" (ordered by most recent comment)
additional thoughts:
Comments with me @ mentioned
Comments with me @ mentioned that I haven't responded to.
Hi Rosalind, great ideas thanks for sharing.
Are you currently using Inbox to see this detail? Some cool features in Inbox that might help manage your task @mentions.
Starring items in your inbox - This allows you to single out the most important Inbox notification and lets you build a list under the starred tab in your Inbox.
Snoozing items - I find this particularly useful. If I see a notification for something that I can't work on at that moment, I snooze it for a couple fo hours or until the next day when I have more time to give it my full focus.
There's a free webinar about Monitoring Your Work tomorrow that will cover a lot of this and different ways to ensure tasks and Projects are not lost.
Thanks for staring this conversation, I'm looking forward to hearing suggestions here from others too 👍
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for those suggestions, and you're right, they do help. I think the reason I'm interested in being able to see this kind of thing in dashboards vs. the inbox is 1) the inbox is prone to clutter, and it's easy for things to get lost in there, and 2) it's a safeguard against the potential for things to get overlooked when you're busy and have a lot on your plate. Crunch times are precisely when you might forget to snooze or star a notification. This widget/report is to catch things that fall in the cracks of our normal workflows. Also, 3) we have PMs who might want to be checking on these things, rather than the people actually getting the notifications in their inboxes.
Ah, I see. I've been thinking about this one 🤔
How about this workaround. It's a little manual but it might help.
More than happy to go into a more detail here if you'd like. I totally understand it's not ideal but this might be a helpful best practice to keep you on top of everything in Dashboards.
What do you think?
We do already tag things manually. For me, this thread is about having some automatic ways to capture things that fall through the cracks.
Thanks for sharing Rosalind. I think having some prompt or auto-reminder like you've outlined in your original post would definitely be useful.
Looking forward to hearing other member's input and how they currently manage this aspect too 👍
I completely agree. I didn't see this thread before, so I had posted my own thread stating the same request. Please get this functionality going for us. It would be great to be able to check a box "needs reply" so that a widget could capture that item for the dashboard. Right now, I'm having to weed through hundreds of tasks trying to remember which ones I was waiting for responses on. It's really time consuming and there has to be a better way!
