Can't COPY text when viewing a Word Doc embedded in a Task unless you download a document editor
Our team is sending me their bio text files for the website team page. 2 collaborators are editing their bio content so using a WORD doc and using WRIKE for this makes perfect sense. Yeah WRIKE!
However as a web designer it's frustrating that I can't just quickly click and view this DOC and COPY and PASTE the paragraph I need. Having to download each file one by one and then open the file all takes too much time and fills my hard drive with files I will not need later.
Your support team explained I could try to install a Document Editor add-in. I can do that but think it's beyond what I need to accomplish these quick simple text based (copy/paste) tasks.
Would be a nice gesture to allow text to be copied because taking the copy feature away from a power user is quite frustrating.Almost faster for me to just retype. That's my suggestion to make WRIKE more awesome.
All the best!!
Todd
Hi Todd, all awesome suggestions welcome! I agree it would be quicker to be able to copy and paste the text, so we'll ensure this idea is brought to the attention of the Product Team when reviewing documents in the future.
For now, I'd reiterate the advice from our Support Team around downloading the document editor, although the document editor seems like an extra step, it's always useful to have going forward perhaps for other actions and uses you may need to complete when viewing documents.
Again, thanks for the suggestion 🙌
Hello! I am looking for ways to better handle copy from the copy writer on my team as using Word is a total pain. Is there something I can download that will enable me to cut and paste from a word doc? I'm confused by your response.
Thanks!
Natalie
I am also struggling with the inability to copy text from the Wrike review function. Can you please send me a link to where I can download the Document Editor that you refer to in previous posts?
Hey everyone, sorry it took us a while to get back to you on this!
Here's our Help Center article on Document Editor - all the details and instructions are there, please check it out if you haven't already.

We have a similar concern but with PDFs. Currently the only way to copy and paste approved text from one PDF into an annotation for a new file is to download the approved file, open it on the desk top so that it is side-by-side with the Wrike window we are working in (which makes things pretty small and hard to deal with!) then copy from the downloaded PDF. Since I can do a side-by-side review a PDF against another file in Wrike it would be VERY helpful if I could copy and past from that other file. Are there any plans to incorporate this. We can't use the Document Editor because these are design files that are created in INDD so we have to use the PDFs.
Thank you for reaching out Denise Runge! I'm checking with the Product team now - I'll let you know if they have such plans 🙂

I would be interested to know the answer to Denise's question from January 2021. Without copy paste I need to keep my own local copy of the files to access the text, which ends up cluttering my downloads and kind of defeats the purpose of Wrike as a team file database. Thank you!
I have heard nothing about this since I made the post including whether or not it is even in the plan
