Sort by due date - Dashboard view

In the Dashboard view when you sort by date it would be helpful if it sorted by the task Due Date (what date is it sorting by?). See in the screen shot below:

"Today" task: correct, due 2/27.

"Tomorrow" task: incorrect, due 3/2 (and not ready for me to work on yet).

"This week" task incorrect: due 3/9 (ready for me to work on by tomorrow if previous task completed today).

"Next week" tasks seem to make sense.

Thanks!

This feature would be greatly appreciated. I just want the ability to see all my tasks in order of the due date. I don't need to see "TODAY" "TOMORROW" and "NEXT WEEK" because those timelines are not accurate. Something that is under "NEXT WEEK" could be worked on tomorrow or today. I just want to be able to go down the list in order by date. It seems like a fairly basic, common sense feature that should be included in the program.

Has there been any traction on this in the past year? I agree with what everyone has said - I find the sorting by "date" difficult to read, and I would like to be able to go down the list strictly in order of due date without "today", "next week" and "next month" groupings.

Hi Katie Smith, welcome to the Community! Thank you for chiming in. You can very easily sort by due date in the New Table view by simply clicking on the name of the relevant column:

As previously announced in the Community, the List View is planned to be merged into the New Table view.

Lastly, please feel free to check our New to Community forum to discover all the resources you can find in our Community 🙂

Hey everyone - I think we finally have a solution via the "New Dashboards" feature that you can activate for your account by visiting https://www.wrike.com/labs/.

Create a widget and set it to sort by "Due Date". Tasks are now literally sorted by DUE DATE ONLY - woot!

  • Gone are the TODAY, TOMORROW, LATER sub-filters
  • Tasks with a range of dates (for example, August 1 - August 31) are now actually placed in order by the DUE DATE (August 31), and not the "well, you could be doing it today" TODAY sub-filter

4.5 years later, I am satisfied :) lol.

Note that the "New Dashboards" functionality is a bit finicky still as I'm playing around with it today, but it will hopefully improve.

Jared Staege I tried the New Dashboard, and it's OK, definitely on the right track, only you can't see what projects the tasks are for. In the current Dashboard widget set up you can choose to show folder names, which provides a button with the folder name, and you can click right into the project if needed. Or at the very least just see what project that task is for quickly in the Dashboard view. This is a crucial feature of the current Dashboard that all of our users rely on. Example image below. Thanks!

Hi Jared Staege, I'm glad to know you're enjoying the New Dashboards, we will soon announce more details about them along with additional updates 😀

Robin Harris, thank you for bringing this to us. In the New Dashboards, the location of the tasks should be displayed, as in the previous version:

Are you experiencing a different behavior?

Thank you!

Juan Hi Juan, I went back in to the New Dashboards and found it! I didn't see that you needed to switch on the "Location" field to see the project folder the task is associated with. That would be a good call out in any training info Wrike provides. Or make "Location" clearer? I just took a stab at it and it worked. I'll try to move over to the new Dashboards for now - looks very promising!

Jared Staege
thank you for that info, the task due date sorting was very annoying.

But now we've lost the widget for "my pending approvals," a list of all the things I need to review and approve. I tried but could not figure out how to make a custom widget with that information, any ideas? You're right the new dashboard is a bit clunky and confusing right now.

Hey Nicole S, when using the new dashboard, you can add a widget by going to the task/project options and choose the "Pending approval" option:

Lisa that doesn't work. It only gives me a chart; it won't let me do that with a list. It also won't let me only select the current user or a specific person to show the approvals they need to finish. I don't want to see all pending approvals in a bar chart. Is there some other way to show just the current user what approvals they need to review and complete? In the old version it was already a pre-made widget.

Hello Nicole S, thank you for your reply. If your data is displayed in bars, I assume the reason is that you have selected the "Columns" layout:

If you wish to see your tasks with approvals in a list layout, you can use the "Table" option:

Also, you can apply filters to your widgets to, for instance, only display tasks assigned to a certain user:

I hope this information helps! Please, let us know if there is anything else you need help with 👍

Juan it doesn't let me do that. When I click list, the filters that I need disappear.

Nicole, can you please elaborate further a bit or share a screenshot if you can? What filters disappear when you switch to the list?

Vladimir Bugay sorry I typed that last message too quickly, and wasn't clear.

Overall the new look and layout in the Wrike Labs dashboards is much better. What I'm missing is a widget that show "My Pending Approvals/Reviews", meaning the files or tasks I need to review and approve.

I can't seem to create a custom widget that allows this in the new dashboard view. The closest I can get is to show me all the tasks assigned to me (not what I want) that have pending reviews, meaning I am waiting on other users to review my file or task. I need to see what files I specifically (or the current user viewing the dashboard) need to review and approve. These tasks are typically not assigned to me, but to another user, and just the approval is assigned to me and others. And I want this in table or list view.

It is a pre-made widget in the current dashboard view, but not the new Wrike Labs version.

Nicole, thanks for the clarification and it's clear now. It's not possible to display my pending approvals/reviews yet, but it's something that comes very soon. I will let you know once it's available in the Labs.
