Can tasks be 'deferred' on creation?

Hi,

I am new to Wrike and find it is a brilliant tool but we would really like the option for tasks to be created as deferred. We use a lot of templates and so many of the tasks we have become active over time but not from when new projects are created.

On Custom Workflows, we are able to create anything we like but it would be fantastic to be able to reorder the four main categories - active, deferred, completed and cancelled. It would be great to be able to change the order so deferred can go to the top and then not all tasks will be created as active when you duplicate a template.

Welcome to the Community Oliver! Currently, newly created tasks will only assign to a status in the 'Active' statuses. I can understand why you'll like to change the default. Right now, your option to manually change the status once the task is created/generated.

We'll make sure this post is included in our Product Team's reports and post here if we have any updates 👍

thank you!

it's mainly because we use a lot of templates so everytime we start a new project we have to change the status of every task which can be a bit frustrating

I would also like to see this option, if we could just drag the columns in the account management/workflow page it would accomplish this in the frontend...obv not a minor feature but we could us it too.

We dump our tasks into a backlog/icebox and filter them out into the sprint priority where they're assigned.

I would also like to have this feature. I build out projects and tasks in the backlog in advance and it is causing confusion for my team since they are automatically marked as active and sent an email. It is also very time-consuming when I have to build a lot of projects, tasks, and subtasks at once and have to keep manually changing their states. It would be super helpful to just be able to define what state a task should start as upon creation.

Please add this to the blueprints template feature. We have projects that need to be created in advance but deferred.

I chose "Deferred" for the project and each task for a particular template. When creating a live version, it reverted to "not started."

Out projects have at least 10 tasks and about 5 different workflows to accommodate each department's needs. This makes the mass change feature in the list view unhelpful, and individually changing each task to "Deferred," then back to "Not Started" later is a pain.

I share the same frustration. When you have a blueprint with many tasks that span a wide period of time, it is burdensome to manually defer upon creation each time. It also creates a false sense of panic with those who have notifications set for being informed upon creation.

Just echoing others in saying we would find this to be an extremely helpful feature that would save us a lot of time.
