Dependencies between tasks and 'turning off' automatic date shift
For our project, I need to be able to link tasks via dependencies. Not doing that as a workaround in order to prevent automatic date shift is not really a viable solution. And while adding date constraints might help, only being able to do that in the timeline view is a major pain: I want to be able to either be able to add date constraints within the cards themselves OR better yet to just be able to turn the automatic date shift functionality for dependent tasks off. While I appreciate that this functionality is reflecting the idea that a task has a set duration, in the context of our project it is far more common for the date for a parent task to be pushed out without any room for the dates of the dependencies to shift (i.e. we need to stick to the same schedule/dates over what we estimated as the duration for a given task).

N,b, suggested fix from Wirke was to not link tasks via dependencies, but that won't work for us.
We have the same problem. The automatic date shift is very frustrating when you've already set start and end dates for tasks before linking them through a dependency. Using a Date Constraint is not a suitable answer, since it only applies after the dependency has already been created.
I've been advised that we should try importing the tasks from an XLS spreadsheet. That's potentially a suitable workaround, but still frustrating that there's not way to prevent the date shift directly within Wrike.
H guys, this is an interesting idea - thanks for sharing here 👍
Would be great if at least the automatic rescheduling was logged in the comments sections (similar to if a user changes dates on a task)
This is a significant issue for our Org. We do not want tasks to be moved once we link dependencies.
If anyone is interested in resolving the "Dependencies between tasks and 'turning off' automatic date shift" issue as part of the new Lead and Lag time implementation, please comment on my post in Lead and Lag times:

Perhaps you can clarify how date constraining should work as part of the dependency GUI.
This functionality (to turn off automatic start date adjustment when assigning a dependent task) is necessary for our organization as well.
As there seems to me up to now no sollution directly by turning shifting dates off, how about using Milestones?
Put a milestone behind your task with depency and the next task with dependency to the milestone. As I understand the Wrike help the milestone will not be shifted and following tasks would depend on the milestone, so also not shifted.
Ok, it gives more tasks in your Gant Chart. What you could do is putting a Folder in your project where you put all these "dummy" milestones.

Hey everyone, apologies for the delay in response here. Thank you for sharing your feedback, it's been passed on to the Product team.
Hi Sven Passinger, thank you for sharing this workaround here! It's really useful for other Community members while putting together their Gantt Charts.
