Allow space automation (Automation Bot) to trigger Workflow approvals (Wrike Bot)

I have a space automation rule that changes the project status to one that has an approval attached in the Workflow.   The space automation rule works as far as changing the status but the approval does not appear if the space automation sets the status. If the status is manually set by a user the workflow configured approval is correctly started.

I opened a ticket for this a while back and was told that one automation rule can't trigger another.  At the time I accepted that response, as I understand why one space automation can't trigger another, but the space automations and the workflow approvals are done by different API users (Automation Bot vs. Wrike Bot), and I'd like to see if it could be remedied.
