Dashboard Parameters that are viewable only to the user applying them
Hi! We have a shared dashboard that multiple people on our team are referencing. The parameters functionality is extremely helpful. However, it appears that changing the parameter affects everyone viewing the dashboard. So if one user changes a parameter, it changes for everyone else as well. This becomes problematic when people referencing the same dashboard are wanting to view different parameters at the same time. Is there a way to set parameters to affect only the user who applies it? Thanks!
I'm curious about this! I guess you are referring to dashboards in the tools section of a space?
Florian
Thanks Florian Kislich. Yes, the dashboards in the tools section of a space.
A use-case scenario would be a dashboard that shows a list of active projects. If there are multiple custom item types (print project, design project, kitting project, etc.), there will be some instances where it is helpful to see all of those types of projects listed together, but also instances where certain users might want to only see a specific item type. If all of the users viewing the dashboard could filter the data based on their own parameters, without it affecting everyone else's view, that would reduce the need for multiple dashboards and/or multiple widgets which clutter up the workspace and bog down the navigation experience.
Oh... we are using these dashboards as well. I've not yet heard of the problem occurring here. Still I want to follow that topic to see further discussion. Maybe I can check that on Monday for our setup.
Yes we have encountered this before when others change around the dashboard and remove widgets etc! We haven't found a good work around yet besides me recommending to the user to duplicate the dashboard in their personal space and configure it the way they want there. However this does not help with issues of clutter.
