Force Users to Complete Task B Before Starting Task A

How can I create a relationship between two tasks that forces users to complete Task B before starting Task A? In this setup, users should be unable to change the status of Task A until Task B is completed. They should only be able to update Task B’s status, and once Task B is complete, they can then change Task A’s status. I checked with the Wrike Support Team, and they confirmed that task dependencies only govern scheduling, not statuses. 🙂

We have custom workflows & automations in our blue prints set so that once app predecessors are complete the status of the next task changes to"Ready to Work". That is the signal to the team member that they are now able to begin working on it.

We also lock our custom workflows to limit what statuses can be changed to.

Would this solve your issue?

Tiffany Love your solution, this is very clever and also useful for other applications!
