Change log for request forms

Hi Community! 

I thought it would be super helpful for other admins to have a change log built-in for request forms.

Oftentimes, other users will go in and tweak something within a request form; while we see who made the last change and when, we don't see what they changed.

It would be helpful to have a built-in change log so that we don't need to keep track of changes in another platform/documentation base.

Best case scenario; changes would automatically be logged based on what gets edited and we get a text field/column in the request form settings that lists changes made (i.e. page 2 deleted, question XYZ renamed to ZYX, value added to single answer question ABC, etc.). 

Worst case scenario, we have a text field/column for change logs in the request form settings that we can manually add notes to in order to log what changes were made. Bonus if we can make this mandatory to fill in after saving changes made (i.e. a box at the bottom of the request form that transfers the text to the field in the settings or a popup after we click save/publish that let's us jot down what changes were made).

I believe in the roadmap there is a plan to update the request form list to match the new custom field list that has a description field.  Not ideal, but then it would give you a place to mark down changes.

Hi Anna,

although I also support your request for an Undo-Button within request form editor, (Add "Undo" and "Redo" buttons within request form settings – Wrike Help Center), this one is way more important! Thanks for bringing it to attention!

I'd just specify that it's not only important to see what was changed when, but also who did those changes.

+1 to this idea Anna Giacobbe — a changelog for request forms would be incredibly valuable!

Being able to see who made a change, when, and what exactly was changed would really help our team with both troubleshooting and internal accountability. I’d also be curious to know how far back the changelog would go — for example, would it show edits made months ago, or only track changes after the feature is launched?

In addition to that, I’d love to see some sort of flagging mechanism included in the changelog experience — for example:

  • A warning or alert on forms that need to be updated due to recent changes in a custom field they reference.

  • Some way to identify forms that are no longer in use, so they can be cleaned up or archived.

On that note, I submitted a separate request a while back for a Request Form Archive feature (linked here), and I think that idea ties in nicely. If we had better visibility into which forms are stale or inactive, alongside a change history, it would give admins like me a much clearer picture of what needs attention.
