Allow Uploading Custom Icons for Custom Item Types

Currently, Wrike allows selecting from a set of predefined icons when creating or editing a Custom Item Type. However, there is no option to upload or import custom icon files (e.g., PNG, SVG) that match our team’s specific needs, workflows, or branding.

Being able to upload our own custom icons for each Custom Item Type would make workspaces significantly more intuitive and visually informative, especially for teams that rely on visual cues to distinguish work types at a glance.

Problem / Why This Matters:

• Visual recognition is critical when scanning workloads, dashboards, and charts.

• Custom icons help our teams quickly identify item types related to critical workflows (e.g., development, QA, design, tickets, etc.).

• Using our own icons tied to internal terminology and processes helps with user adoption and reduces cognitive friction.

• Current predefined icons can be limiting and too generic for complex or branded workflows.

Use Cases:

1. Product & Engineering: distinguish types like Feature Request, Bug, Tech Debt, UX Work with own icons.

2. Support Teams: visually differentiate Incidents, Requests, Changes, Problems.

3. Creative Teams: assign unique icons that reflect a team’s custom item taxonomy and reduce onboarding time.

Desired Behavior:

• In the Custom Item Type editor, add a button to upload an icon file (PNG/SVG).

• The uploaded icon should display in item views, lists, workload charts, and wherever the custom item type is shown.

• Optionally allow admin control over icon library for consistent branding.
